Quartz doesnt take Haste into account when showing the ticks, so one should better use Gnosis.
If you want an extra addon for your DS ticks, use DrainSouler.

Delete (red X icon) Condition Crit = True.
Edit (crossed tool icon) Condition Skill Name = and type Drain Soul into the Parameter box.
Save the Trigger.
Find the Trigger in the list of triggers.
Change the color (click the white color box) to an evil warlock purple. (IMPORTANT: Warlocks like purple.)
Edit the event (crossed tools icon) and select a sound (I prefer Simon Chime).

You can fix Drain Soul Timer by using the fix they used for MSBT. Simply Change the 37th line in the .lua from "local srcName = select(4,...)" to "local srcName = select(5,...)"

After the recent Glyph of Soul Swap nerf i find using it more of an annoyance then a benefit on a fight like that. Basically with a 15 sec cd it takes you 17-18 sec to apply dots to a new target, which most of the time means that both UA and Corruption will fall off, when before the patch you were able to clip both and keep them rolling.
Besides when manually refreshing dots, while keeping BoD on one target and BoA on the 2nd, seems to improve your dps over the course of the whole fight, since you'll earn a few free GCD thanks to not having to refresh BoD that often(in conjunction with the SS nerf).

Something I did notice the other day.
My Felhunter was not able to attack anything in Nefarian's Phase 2 lava. The succubus had no problems smacking Nefarian around during that phase prior to 4.1 and to add injury upon insult, the Felhunter died twice in the lava.
The only time I perceived the Felhunter being more vulnerable to death was during 5-mans and dying during the "Fuck melee, get owned" parts. The Succubus was more immune to these due to Lash of Pain having an absurd range.

I had my Felhunter attack the adds on the columns in phase 2. He did not die anytime I manually had him attack the add.

I'm playing AffDrain myself and I have no problem keeping my pet alive most of the time. I dropped my points in Bane for 2 in Fel Synergy and 1 in Mana Feed seeing as I only cast Shadow Bolt when nightfall procs.

What is the rule about interrupting a drain life channel to reapply dots? I know for SB filler you're never supposed to stop casting mid shadow bolt, but does this hold true for drain life as well? If UA is going to run out mid DL is it more dps to finish the channel, or reapply UA right away?

Considering the only damage you lose if you interrupt DL is the remaining ticks, rather then the entire cast as is the case with Shadowbolt, I sincerely doubt interrupting is an absolute no-no. If you interrupt immediately after a tick, the only thing you lose is a touch of mana efficiency and a fraction of a tick's worth of damage. Since all of the DoTs are high DPCT than DL, interrupting sounds like a good bet to me. Keep in mind, though, that since the GCD is fixed at no less than half the cast of DL, interrupting before the second tick will invariably lose you at least a half-tick worth of DPS time. Interrupting after the second tick is likely a DPS increase, in much the same way that interrupt Mind Flay after the second tick to refresh higher priority items was a DPS increase for spriests throughout Wrath (and possibly still today, haven't played mine since Cata).
Edit: That said, keep in mind that the cast time of UA is exactly half the channel time of DL, and the tick timer will be (usually) identical to DL's channel time. Given this, if it's close enough that UA would expire while DL is being cast, recasting UA immediately would be preferable, as that means it would land in the desired last tick window for refresh. The only thing I tend to interrupt for is Haunt, as missing that Shadow's Embrace refresh hurts.

After taking your advice and switching from Quartz to Gnosis, I've noticed behavior in channeled spells that should prove a DPS increase for the drain build by quite a bit.
Interrupting a channeled spell before its last tick with a recast of the same spell simply adds the last tick to the very beginning of the next channel.
I tested this with Drain Life, Mind Flay, and Drain Soul. They all follow this rule.
If you recast the spell after the 2nd to last tick and before the last, the next will include that last tick in the channel, and you can chain this multiple times. Effectively having a channel that equals 4 casted drain lifes without waiting for each cast to finish, removing lag from the equation all together.
The example is as follows:
cast DL -> 1st tick -> 2nd tick -> recast DL -> 3rd tick -> 4th tick -> 5th tick -> 6th tick
I can imagine this will help many people who are having trouble matching the DPS from Sims due to having bad ping.
Now to see if this behavior can be programmed into simcraft.

Are you sure you gain the 3rd tick during the second cast not because of the effect of lag (the game "displays" it late),
and really because that last tick was postponed to the second cast (ie the refresh took it into account) ?

Stromin_normo is right, I tried to recast right after the second tick 30 times and got 90 hits. If it was lag then Drain soul will not gain extra tick after recasting it (I don't think I have 2000 ms ping)

It's a DoT debuff and it works like any other dot (Mind fly work the same way I think).
Try to recast DS after the first tick and you will notice increased duration on the debuff

Seems to be correct. Recasting DL right after the second tick seems to cause a 'lag' in the cast, wherein the next cast waits about a second to start casting on the casting bar, but your character continues the channeling animation. In addition, I set up a G15 macro to recast DL precisely every 3 seconds, and did a naked test against the level 60 target dummy (to avoid misses). I lost a single tick somewhere, but I was still invariably getting 3 ticks per channel, despite interrupting the cast roughly 3/4ths through each of the channel bars.
Edit: Results are even more obvious with Drain Soul. Cast it on a dummy, then recast it right after the second to last tick. Your channel bar won't start for ~3 seconds, and you'll get an even number of ticks if you let it finish. My DS has 6 ticks by default, recasting right after the second-to-last tick on the first channel still netted me 12 ticks.
Edit2: This was included in the 4.1 notes, but it was listed as a bug fix in the priest section. Apparently the fix applied to our drains as well. It does not, however, apply to our other channeled spells like Rain of Fire.

Careful, safe clip works fine only when you are clipping channeling spell with the same spell. If you'll try to clip DL with other spell (i.e. corruption, DrainSoul..) - you'll just lose last tick.
Oh, and BTW Castbars is a lightweight castbar with ticks marks.
