It was brought up on the main forums to use soulburn:soulswap (unglyphed) to renew dots in execute range due to the abundance of shards. Raid dummy testing seems to indicate this is a dps increase vs manual dot renewal. Can someone who is better at simcraft coding check that out?

This is great idea, on a single target fight that does not involve Soul Swapping to anything - there are several of those, it should be definitely used if it works as expected.

On another topic, that buff of Haunt seems so overdone. I see 300k critical strikes in the simulation which is just either too high or my perception of damage is still not on pair with the new numbers.

It appears the Meta no longer effects corruption in the latest build. It still updates spell power buffs, and I am presuming other buffs as well.

Is Chaos Bolt taking advantage of Backdraft in the T13H level 85 sims?

I saw the same action list line in the 85 sims -- chaos_bolt,if=ember_react&buff.backdraft.stack<3 -- which doesn't make sense since Backdraft can't be consumed by CB at level 85. Pyroclasm is learnable at 86.

300k crits are entirely plausible in the t14H sims, and here is why.

The SP raidbuffed is just short of 32k. The scaling on haunt is 225% (with a 2400 base) so you are looking at hitting for 74.4k base damage. Now stack that with CoE and the other various raid debuffs along with refreshing haunt just before the last one falls you should gain 30ish% more damage on haunt bringing you just short of 100k base damage. Add GSac and we are @ ~115k base

A crit with no procs up will hit for ~230k damage, with a perfect proc line up we gain ~12k intellect or about 38% more damage.

With this little bit on napkin math I end up with a value of 317k with perfect proc lineup and a crit.

While this number is high I did do a tonne of rounding that could account for the 6% difference.

I'm currently seeing haunt's dpet being higher than that of drain soul+dot hits execute(around 55890 vs 44425, with sac up), so I think it's more a question of which is a bigger gain - haunt spam or sb:ss - on a second thought(better late...): just go with both. And few smaller ones that follow - is ss glyph useful earlier in the fight(as currently glyphed version triggers the 30sec cooldown even when soulburning swap, which might stick looking at xelnath's mmochamp posts about affli being op in pvp), is dark soul up, as with that up haunt would hit gcd cap rather quickly(around ~15% haste), how high your mastery is, as that only boosts drain soul execute and of course spell power scaling...

I just noticed that Haunt indeed enhances our damage by 25% instead of 20% as stated in the tooltip.
I saw no information about a recent change regarding that modifier, so i don't know if i'm late or if it's new.

In game haunt currently gives a 25% bonus damage to all dots and haunt, not 20%, it's either a tooltip error or a game mechanic error.
sim dot ticks from MG are correctly 50% of normal damage, as currently in game (tested it)

in-game soul swap damage : 10825
sim : 10825 --> OK

in-game soul swap damage on a target with haunt debuff : 10825
sim : 12990 --> NOT OK
soul swap does not currently benefit from the haunt debuff

in game doomguard : always 15 bolts per summon (I summon him during dark soul, but it doesn't change anything)
sim : 18.8 bolts per summon --> NOT OK

corruption ticks to nightfall ratio on a 2000s fight :
1152 ticks, 66 nightfall procs which is a 5.8% procs --> a bit too much

corruption ticks with malefic grasp to nightfall ratio on a 2000s fight
1152 corr ticks, 1646 MG ticks, 161 nightfall procs which is a 5.7% chance proc --> same thing here

Check of the official sim on the raid dummy for this problem :

528.6 MG ticks and 524.6 corr ticks and 63.07 nightfall proc -> 6% proc instead of 5% --> NOT OK

Plopinou: First you say the MG-proc dot ticks are too low, then you say "sim dot ticks from MG are correctly 50% of normal damage, as currently in game". Which is it?

As for Nightfall, I'll quote GC: "Nightfall is a 0.5% stacking proc chance now (averaging out to a 5.7% proc chance over time)."

For Haunt we're just using the latest spell data, but I'll test it in-game and make sure to adjust accordingly. Soul Swap not being affected by Haunt is clearly a bug though - someone should report that.

3328 MG's corr ticks for 6657 corr normal ticks is a perfect 50%, the log is ok.
But the result tab (html) shows an average hit of 3090 for MG's corr ticks.
It seems to be only a stat issue, the final computed corruption dps seems fine.

For nightfall, I didn't see the post from GC, but if it's the case, there may be some bug in-game.

Out of 2379 corr ticks on 2 tests, I only had 104 nightfall proc, which is 4.37%
I'm no expert in probability, but from my calcs, it seems out of the 95% interval confidence if it's a 5.7% average.
In fact its seems even out of the 99% confidence interval.

My haunt never hits a target while it still has the debuff, except in execute range where I do the max haunt uptime priority with SB/SS for dot refresh, and on those 2 parses I have only a ~40% uptime instead of the 64% sim'ed.

The stats are averages - since you don't have 100% uptime on MG/DS, each corruption tick won't have a corresponding "half-tick", so due to varying buffs you can't expect them to have an average damage that's exactly 50% of the average damage of the full ticks. In general, I'd expect the stats to show slightly more than 50%, because half-ticks will tend to coincide with haunt uptime. This matches what I see in the reports.

I understand, but there's something I still don't catch on the report page here :
Simulationcraft Results

In the "Stats details: corruption" unfolded section we have "Direct Results : 626.28". From what I understand, this is the MG + DS average corr ticks count from all the iterations done by the sim.
In theory it should be equivalent to the number of time the MG and DS ticked.
But in this same table, MG + DS averages out to 577,5.

What did I miss ?

You can also see that on 2500 iterations, the average direct crit corr damage should be twice the hit, but it's actually a lot more than that in the table.

The same thing are present for UA and agony.


Don't hesitate to tell me if I'm annoying, as this may not be the place to discuss this kind of thing ^^;
