Hey guys, I am currently after a dps chart of the engineering professions since the patch. Would anyone have the stats on engineering vs the other available professions?

ISB vs Scorch
I keep seeing posts saying that because we have to sacrifice key talents for ISB as destro that its a bigger DPS loss for us, but is there any theory crafting as to how much of a DPS loss that may be?
My guild has 2 stubborn mages that say, they did it for the last 4 years, we can do it for the next 4 years, and they simply won't cave on this unless one of our locks can provide concrete evidence that speccing into ISB (\we have to drop ISL for it) and then casting a SB once every 30seconds is more of a DPS lock than a fire mage keeping up the scorch debuff.
I was told there was some theorycrafting already done here on this, but all I can find is claims that we have to lose many key talents to do this. Also I know ISL provided more of a DPS boost before 3.2 since the changes to the LT glyph, so I find myself lifetapping every 40 seconds pretty regardless of having ISL so Im not even sure what kind of DPS boost that provides anymore.

Someone else can point you to the analysis showing what your DPS loss would be by spec'ing that way and using SB every 30s compared to what the mages lose by keeping scorch up.
However, if you really do end up on ISB debuff duty, you might consider adopting a 0/56/15 demonic pact spec, assuming you have solid enough gear that you blow away what an elemental shaman would provide with his totem.

One of our locks did try that once, but inthe end it gimped his DPS more than casting SB once every 30 seconds, by about 1200-1500dps so he went back. True it may give the highest rDPS boost as meta/dp, we just don't feel like it :-P
Now after reviewing my partner in crime's WoL from last night here is what Ive discovered.
Lets assume 20% haste since since thats what I have raid buffed.
Lets also assume that we never have to LT twice in a 40second span, this data is from 25 man heroic northrend beasts and I know that I can LT back to full while unable to do anything else and otherwise LT every 40 seconds to keep LT glyph up, but never have to do this more than every 40 seconds. So at least for this fight, I don't see how ISL helps your DPS, now speccing into suppression and dropping some hit for other stats would.
Incinerate
# of hits = 587 avg hit = 6071.1
# of crits = 680 avg crit = 12537.4
% of crits = 680/1267 = 53.67% crit
weighted avg of Incin = 46.33% * 6071.1 + 53.67% * 12537.4 = 9541.56
Cast time of incin = 2.25seconds with haste its 1.875
9541.56/1.875 = 5088.83 dpct
Shadowbolt
# of hits = 67 avg hit = 5380.1
# of crits = 61 avg crit = 11862.7
% of crits = 61/128 = 47.65% crit
weighted avg of SB = 52.35% * 5380.1 + 47.65% * 11862.7 = 8469.06
Cast time of SB = 2.5 seconds with haste is 2.08seconds
8469.06/2.08 = 4071.66 dpct
This gives us a difference of 1017.17dpct, and I know the SB sample size is a bit small so this might not be entirely accurate, but if you're casting it once ever 30 seconds then 1017.17/30 = 33.9 loss of dps.
So would keeping scorch up be more or less than about a 40dps loss for the mage?
edit: Also I know the BiS spec is 3/13/55 where you drop some hit for other stats, and when I get a new trinket to replace dyin curse I do plan on doing this, the only question then is that makes it much harder to spec into ISB without a hige DPS loss, so how to convince out mages that once we do that they should start applying scorch.

I would like to know the stat weight of my gear.
I made a profile at wowhead.com, and loaded my character's gear in to it. When I had a profile number, I put this info in the simcraft, I got the HTML file.
My question is where can I find or calculate my stat weight?

I searched the SimulationCraft For Warlocks thread for the following information so I was hoping someone here might be able to answer.
Assuming BiS gear for T9 warlocks, what is the rough dps value of the 2 tier bonus and the 4 tier bonus? I'm trying to get a sense for its value to help me make gearing choices in the future.

Question on Demonology rotation:
Once a boss gets into Decimation range, does the rotation become solely the 1:1 rotation or should Immo/Corruption/CoA? be incorporated as well?

Hi all, 3-week-old Warlock here.
1) Just to confirm I'm not crazy, Chaos Bolt does not get a damage buff from immolate like Incinerate does, correct? The tooltip doesn't say it does, so I assume not, but tooltips have lied before.
2) If the answer is "no," as I suspect, then I want to consider a scenario I run in to three or four times a fight: I'm bloodlusted or using a haste pot. Immolate has 1 second left accord to my timer. I consider casting it, but it's at least possible that my new immolate will land before the last tick goes off on my old one. Should I say screw it, and cast immo anyway, or (if the CD is up) should I cast chaos bolt and have a 1-2 second window where immo isn't on the target?
3) Do most Warlocks here carry around a separate set of hit gear for 10M Heroics? I ask because, unlike my 25m, my 10M Uld/TotC groups frequently go in without a Spriest/Moonkin, and thus I've looked like a dope when my CoDooms missed. If there is another solution to this problem, I'm all ears.
Thanks in advance!

With the talent Fire and Brimstone - Spell - World of Warcraft Chaos Bolt does get a bonus from immolate being on the target. If you are in the situation where you think recasting immolate might clip the current one, try life tapping or casting corruption.
I always carry around a set of hit gear and hit food for times times when group composition doesn't include a 3% buff (or if the 3% comes with a player I don't trust to survive). I also carry around a set of non hit gear for heroics and soloing.

Thank you for your replies.
I've run SimCraft with the scale factors in them, but I have a problem with them.
These are my stat values :
HitRating=2.20,
SpellDamage=1.57,
Spirit=1.05,
HasteRating=1.04,
CritRating=0.73,
Intellect=0.32
As you can see HitRating is very high, 2.2.
But I am already over the hitcap. I'm currently over it 15.32% = 402 HR. I always have a Draenei in raid (+1%) and Boomkin/ShadowPriest (+3%) in raid.
I know I wear too much HR but this will change when I can replace some trinkets and gear.
Since I'm over Hit cap already; why is the value of HR in SimCraft so high? Is there an setting I could set so SimCraft wont value it so high?

That's the value of Hit raiting prior to reaching the hit cap. After reaching the cap its value is 0. The relevant part of your result is the SP >> Sprit = Haste > Crit >> Int.

This is the way to go. Two sets should be plenty - one for when you need the hit, and one for when you don't, including heroics (should probably only need to swap out a piece or two, depending on your gear). Nui makes a great point about the players who bring the buffs, too. If I don't know the moonkin or shadow priest too well, or, worse, know that they're likely to die, I'll keep my hit gear on. There's nothing worse than a CoD or Immolate missing because someone dies totally outside of your control.

I do the same thing, but as an alternative to hit food I dual spec 0/13/58 and 3/13/55 and switch into 3/13/55 when I don’t have an spriest or boomkin in the group.

Meta/Ruin
I've been toying with Meta/Ruin lately, as we don't run a demon lock for DP at the moment.
I'm one of our top 4 DPS as destruction right now, but raid DPS is what matters, so I thought I'd give it a shot.
I have to admit to being a bit underwhelmed by the spell power boost of Demonic Knowledge, though. Those of you that have gone the Meta/Ruin path, what self-buffed spellpower were you looking at when you found it a good time to switch?
With just fel armor, I'm at 2821 normally. With a felguard out, I'm at 3048, for a gain of 227 only.
Playing with the spec, I keep wondering (almost) whether I forgot to train something, or whether I was wrong about not having to go to a pet trainer and buy those annoying books anymore while leveling :P

Swapped my offspec to meta/ruin from at 3.2.2 launch. I used Supplicium's math on DP's weight over wrath totem to gauge my effectiveness ( link)
Right off the bat I can see that your trinkets, while great for burst dps, are not the best for providing DP coverage to the raid due to their uptime concern.
Regardless of trinkets, with your current gear, after raid buffs u should be well above the 3200 benchmark, which according to Supplicium is the mark at which wrath totems should be swapped to searing. Additionally there is always your lifetap glyph which would grant you a nice chunk of SP. As far as calculating DP effectiveness goes, given lifetap glyph uptime should be 100%, you might as well be taking this buff into account as well.
Personally I feel that the ultimate determinant for whether to provide DP is whether your caster dps can utilize it properly. IE if your raid runs with strong caster dps then by all means. However as you said you will top5, and if the other casters are rolling in 10-15, then DP's value falls significantly
In the current 3.2 raid scene its pretty easy for a Meta/Ruin lock to achieve ~4300sp with raid buffs, which stands as a significant improvement over wrath totem.

Depends on the fight, but most of the time I would say don't bother. If you are going to charge in then you should drop a demonic portal at range, and demonic charge in. (faster than running) Honestly, I would not bother as mana on immolation and the gcd to portal back don't seem to outweigh the dps again. Additionally bad if your guild lusts at the end of the fight, it becomes even worse. (HM-Anub is the exceptions, as you should be near the adds/boss at all times and more than likely demo)
|

The raid dps is far more important, that being said, if you do not have any affliction locks doing the isb buff, then you shouldn't make a destro lock spec for the isb buff and burn one sb every 30 seconds either. The dps loss he does by specing into isb kind of negates the personal loss of being demo anyway. Just have someone else do the buff or run a demo lock. (fyi, my average dps on toc boss's as demo is 5855, vs the ~7-8k~ as destruction, but the raid gains more as does the elemental shaman who gains the dps from a searing totem)
It was my understanding that DP didn't take in account the SP gained via spirit. Im sorry if that was already fixed, but from what I can tell it was not.

Well, I did some testing and apparently 4x T9.5 is still not working with Conflagrate.
This is the WOL link with 2x T8.5 and 2x T9.5 - Only present buff was Fel Armor, cloak and trinkets removed and Pyroclasm was cancelled before casting any other spell:
World of Logs - Real Time Raid Analysis
Average conflag hit: 5803 - 2991 spellpower without cloak and trinket
This is the WOL link with 4x T9.5 - Only present buff was Fel Armor, cloak and trinkets removed and Pyroclasm was cancelled before casting any other spell:
World of Logs - Real Time Raid Analysis
Average conflag hit: 5758.7 - 3009 spellpower without cloak and trinket
It should be impossible to have a lower conflag hit if you spellpower increases. Even if it's a marginal increase.
I also had a question, which I didn't find as the search function keeps bugging: Is Corruption worth including in our 'rotation' now that it receives 10% more damage from the 4x T9.4 set?
Thanks in advance!
