AFF or Hybird spec for raids?
I'am currently running the spec 0/41/30. I have been this spec since I have been 80..and I have used it in raids. Now..I have been told that AFF is the "raid" spec. I have compared my spec and it's DPS vs a AFF lock and their DPS and what I notice is that both my DPS and their DPS is about the same. Ive been looking around on the net to see what is the actual raid spec for locks and I can't seem to find anything. If anyone knows..that would be helpful.

Been reading these forums for a while, never really posted. Here's my best Patchwerk kill:
Wow Web Stats
I'm 55/0/16.
I was wondering if Dark Pact is even worth getting if you have 4pc? I dont see why you would ever dark pact with a dmg ampt from the 4pc. Also wondering what my DPS woulda been if we had as short of a fight like Fearsalot =( Also still unsure if I should swap to the 25 spell dmg meta over chaotic. Server is also insanely laggy at peak times for raiding. Aff is so frustrating with lag. =(

The main dps checks of the fight are killing the first drake and then disciples. Typically cooldowns are used for the first drake and dps output with a destro spec is a lot higher then with affliction in a 'fight' that I would guess lasts somewhere in between of 60 and 80 seconds.

With the sartharion fight being the exception, affliction will usually have bloodlust when they're in the hp range to use drain soul and getting the 12% damage buff from death's embrace. Considering that, I'm not sure if affliction benefit significantly less from bloodlust/heroism.
Is it realistic to expect a destro warlock to keep his pet alive during 3 drake sartharion? If not, the damage will go down significantly.

Sartharion is just a non pet friendly fight, with 0-3 drakes they really like to get hit by the firewall, hunters pets included. I normally just run phased imp because of this.
I do disagree with Aff not seeing the full benefit of bloodlust/heroism. Yes it only really benefits 2 spells, SB and DS but decreasing the cast/channel time of these 2 spells does a lot to boost DPS. Shadowbolt is still ~30% of my DPS on most fights and getting an extra DS tick in before a dot refresh is huge.

Just keep him alive for the first drake. After that go ahead and sac it, since the reflect will probably kill him anyway.

It takes a bit getting used to the micromanagement, but it's no big deal. I was running 0/28/43 (EI) on our 3 drake Sartharion yesterday. Basically if you have to move on flame walls put him on passive so he follows you, then have him attack again (of course that's a small DPS loss). To me that felt easier than doing a perfect affliction rotation during this encounter. Even if the pet dies due to your fault, you can resummon him quickly once thanks to Fel Domination/Master Summoner.
As a sidenote, I noticed no bugs with the pet following throu portals.

I dont know for sure if it would work the same but dont see why it wouldn't, but theres a hunter macro that will allow you to activate kill command when it is off of CD so it should work the same for CB/Incin id assume you just have to make sure that CB comes before incin in the macro. This macro is similar to the one I am talking about just swap cb incin with KC and BW, if i get some time ill put in the test run myself on it, if someone else has time to try it out let me know the results please

That doesn't cast one spell if a cooldown is up and another if it is down, though. It's that conditional part that the macros don't let you use.

rotation
I would just like to double check on some of the locks running 0-31-40 rotations. I've been using immo, coa, incin spam... Is anybody adding corruption into their rotation and find it useful or dps/dmg increase. Also are people finding Potion of wild magic >, < or = to speed pots ?

ok using this macro on my hunter allows me to use steady shot until bw comes off cd then bw again but wont work in that manner for spells anyone want to explain why cause to me it seems to be the same circumstances.
TY in advance

I do CoA > Imo > Inco spam. Corruption is too short and is not worth the GCD.

That works because Bestial Wrath is instant. In the warlock issue, someone wants to cast Chaos Bolt when it's off cooldown and Incinerate otherwise. If you tried the above macro for that, I am pretty sure it will just keep trying to cast Chaos Bolt and fail.
The above works for trinkets/instant-abilities, but I haven't seen it do so for cast spells.

Ok after some trial and error i found a simple cast sequence macro that should work for the cb incin spam i tried it for haunt sb spam on a hero dummie and it was refreshing haunt at exactly the time it was falling off the tagtet so i think it will work for cb/incin
/castsequence reset=8 Haunt(Rank 4), Shadow Bolt(Rank 13), Shadow Bolt(Rank 13), Shadow Bolt(Rank 13), Shadow Bolt(Rank 13)
you may want to adjust the reset timer or amount of incin you want in the sequence and after a lil more testing the reset could mess up your rotation during a refresh period im going to test it out during raid tonight and get back with how helpful this could be atleast to a affliction spec
Ok i am new to macros somewhat and was told by a friend that castsequence macros dont let u cast into the latency window so this may not be as effective as i thought if anyone has any idea how to adjust for that id be greatful otherwise ignore this macro. :-)

Yeah, that's what I do. First drake and first wall come roughly at the same time, I put him on follow then (not shifted ofc), and let him attack after wall has passed so he gets BL/hero. After tenebron is dead, I just sac the imp. The rest of the fight is more execution and less dps race anyway.

New question, probably stupid, but what are the merits (if any) of a hybrid shadow build:
Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
I realize this is highly reliant on crits to keep up ISB, for the largest possible shadowbolts, but if you can get into the 30-40% crit rate raid buffed, you can send out SB's that are critting with ruin + 42% bonus from your own buffs (counting CoE), and even before that, you've got Corr ticking harder and SL draining away as well.
I understand this may not hold up to deep Affliction or Demo/Destro, but I would like to know what people thought.

Okay, regarding sarth 3 drakes, i really cannot find any sort of affliction rotation being somewhat viable in the fight. Anyone that has sarth 3 drakes on farm, give me some insight? I just cannot seem to make any sort of affliction rotation viable.

I was going to fraps it this week but I forgot, all I can do is post a WWS if you want. We are not raiding again until after the holidays so a video from me will have to wait.

Only thing you can do is check dot uptime. You can do everything they do and not hit that dps because of guild dps and luck with rng.

Looks like Embrace of the Spider proced before I logged, as aff I have 604 haste with spellstone unbuffed. For this WWS i was running 53/0/18 Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft. Gear was the same as armory is showing now except I was using this belt [Plush Sash of Guzbah].
