For all that were wondering I wanted to point out something on that threat issue brought up a few pages ago.
We tried using Wow Meter online tonight, And it has a threat section which recognized SL as a threat source for both healing and damage.
take a look WoW Meter Online
Also note the large amount of threat from lifetap. Now it's not a lot of threat, but it's extra threat none the less.

Threat is a huge issue for me right now especially on the obvious fights (KT, Maly, Saph). I hate to sac 2 points in imp DS but it is tempting. Even with those 2 points I am still threat capped it just allows me a bit more freedom. I was not aware of the threat generated from healing off of SL...that is insane.

The threat that is described there is calculated from the health and mana gains that you actually had, and are not actually present in-game. Tested using threat meters in game, life tap and siphon life do not generate any mana gain or health gain threat whatsoever. The effect from the 4-piece T7 set does generate a tiny amount of buff threat when lifetapping, and siphon life does generate a little bit of threat on application, however.
In other words, the combat log data was used to extrapolate threat by assuming that healing from siphon life and mana gains from life tap generate threat in that report, but they do not actually do so if tested in the game.

When did the LT threat change happen, I just took that as an assumed thing since it had always been there. And I figured the threat data was logged some where. Thanks for clearing that up in both threads villeraz, I'll have to look at this on my own.

Ok i need some opinions here. My dps is around 4500 on bosses. Didn't get to do patchwerk on 25man though. My gear setup is whats up for question right now. I have 2-piece T7 right now, and enough in my bags to get 4-set and keep hit-cap. Without the 4-set i have 2020 spell-power w/out fel-armor. I can't decide whether i should keep the 4-set and lose the spellpower, or the opposite.
The World of Warcraft Armory
Current Raid Setup.
I'm also having an issue hitting the 5k dps cap, any advice would be appreciated.

Something that seemed to improve my dps a lot was to quit being so anal about haunt. This sounds counter-intuitive but I'm not saying I don't prioritize it, but I've tried to cut way down on overlap. This has created some dot gap in haunt but overall it's very minor, I might lose one tick between applications on one out of five haunt casts but I'm gaining a lot more filler time.
My ten man patchwork dps last night was 100 dps higher then my twenty five man patchwork two weeks ago with zero gear improvements, far fewer raid buffs (fewer buffs for the doomguard and only my own CoE and improved scorch for caster buffs), and being on curse duty instead of CoA.

Would it be more beneficial to spec 3/3 suppression and 3/3 cataclysm (with no assumption of draenei in raid) then use a gear set with 3% less hit possibly?

Tailoring:
Tailors can enchant their cloaks with Lightweave Embroidery. Unfortately, this removes the possibility of a Haste Enchant. The proc can crit and scales with your crit rating, but it is just like with [Extract of Necromantic Power]: The Effect might look nice, but just does not give enough dps. (about 40 dps, depending on your crit rate, but you lose 23 haste rating).
|
I would think that 40 DPS (which sounds about right for the lightweave embroidery) still beats 23 haste rating or am I missing something here?

Lightweave only procs on direct damage that alone makes me dislike it quite a bit, next to that it's more of a pvp enchant, I rather take my constant dps upgrade.

I'm not sure I understand: what makes it a pvp enchant? As said: it seems to deal about 40 DPS for me (according to recount), which IMHO is not too bad for a cloak enchant. It beats the alternatives as far as I can see.

On the last pages multiple people have recommended having 14% hit.
I'd say not having a shadowpriest or a moonkin in the raid is rare. It has also been shown previously that spell hit isn't as great of a stat as it used to be in TBC and that spellpower is as good as hit when you take the itemisation cost into account.
I would recommend going for 11% hit unless your guild just doesn't have either of the aforementioned classes raiding

Debately, if you're comparing it to +23 haste to cloak. However you should be comparing it to Enchanting, Jewelcrafting, etc., which give you a solid boost to spell power in addition to the +haste to cloak that you can get in tandem with those professions.

agreed, tho I aim for 10% hit. I also rarely do 10mans, if I do I use a hit pot and a few of the hit peices I have in the bank. I have never been in a raid without the 4% hit.

IMHO, choice of profession should not stop this from being at the top of the enhancement list for cloaks, just like Master's Inscription of the Storm is at the top of the shoulder enhancements.

Tried to clarify the Tailoring issue:
"about 40 dps, depending on your crit rate, but you lose 23 haste rating (14/19 dps). So the profession gives 20-25 dps which is definitely less than 39 spell power".
First of all, as an affliction warlock it probably won't even give 40 dps as your crit rate is too low. However, that is not easy to judge, lets assume it gives 40 dps. Then it has to be compared with 23 haste rating, giving 14/19 dps. Even with starter gear, that is only +26 dps, while the "normal" 38 spell power from other professions would give 43/48 dps. So, Tailoring is just worse than Jewelcrafting, Enchanting and so on. It's not a bad profession, but it's not the best one.

I agree that tailoring may not be the smartest profession to take, but if you look at the equipment list, each piece lists the best enhancements for that location independent of wether or not one has a certain profession. It is in that regards that I think the embroidery should be at the top of the list of the cloak enhancements, rather than being absent as it currently is.
As for the 40 DPS: that's what I get on average in boss fights out of recount with my current gear.

Another warlock with dps problems....
Hi all,
My post is about my dps. Before I start telling what my problem is I will tell some more about the stats etc of my warlock.
I am an Affliction warlock with 54/0/17 build. My gear set up is this:
http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sh...lands&n=Gyojin
My Glyphs are: Glyph of Syphon Life, Glyph of Immolate, Glyph of Curse of Agony.
As for the rotation I use: SB > Haunt > Unstable Affliction > Immolate > Corruption > Curse of Agony > Siphon Life > Filler Time
And I try heavily to keep up the dots. Also when the boss is at 25% or lower I drop Immolate and instead of using SB as filler I use Drain Soul.
Well thats it I think about my warlock stats.
The problem I have is making me slightly depressed now. The last encounters with patchwork I had about 3.1k dps. Another affliction warlock in my guild with a bit less good gear almost caught up with my dps and thats not right. I even had my Doomguard out on Patchwork when I had 3.1k dps on him. And ofcourse I use my Spellstone.
Also for the last few days I spend about 1/2 hours on a Heroic Training Dummy. And my average dps on a dummy is about 2.9k :S.
I really dont get why my dps is so low. I hope to get some help here for I am doubting about stopping affliction and going destruction again but I really dont want that tbh.

This puzzles me quite a bit. If you can hit 2.9K on a dummy, then 3.1K on Patch is indeed way too low. Either you had some serious problems during Patch, or the rest of your raid is sound asleep. My stats are nowhere near yours, I hit maybe 2.5K on a dummy (been a few weeks since I tried), but about 4.1K on Patch (with fellpuppy). You wouldn't happen to have a combat log of that fight would you? Did you perhaps die right before the Patch fight, and they forgot to rebuff you?

Yeah thats what puzzles me too tbh. I had raid buffs and everyone was focused. Unfortunatly I dont have a log of it because I still have to find out how to get that. When I try it on a dummy and look at the Recount Graph I have some major downs and ups in dps. Reaching to 3600 and falling to like 2100 =/. I dont know if its my gear or casting speed etc.

Well, statwise I can't see a reason for you not to be doing well; you're several big steps ahead of me with your equipment. I used to hit 3.2K back when my SP was still around 1500 and my haste rating almost non-existent. Next time you're there, see if someone in your party can run the logs so you can post them for analysis here. I certainly wouldn't see this as a reason to give up on affliction.
I bought myself a toy a few weeks ago, and it has helped me tremendously in my rotation. It's not for the small handed person perhaps, but I couldn't imagine playing without it anymore.
