I just downloaded the spreadsheet and I'm having trouble figuring a few things out.

I want to use the spreadsheet to see if I should switch any pieces out, but I'm having trouble figuring out how hit is taken into account.

I have 13% hit on my gear and 1% hit from talents (then I use misery to get to 17%). I think misery is taken into account on the spreadsheet. Considering this should put me at the hit cap, I'm confused why my DPS goes up slightly when I use the 40 hit food. Since I'm capped at 17% shouldn't the extra 40 hit rating do absolutely nothing?

Also, the spreadsheet says that for my gear set each point of crit is worth more than haste. Is this because I have so much haste already? I was under the impression that haste was more valuable for affliction warlocks.

13% hit is actually 341.02, you have 341 from gear. How much DPS increase are you seeing? If it's quite a bit, and not a fractional increase as one would expect from .02 hit rating, ensure that the Misery field is actually checked off on the DPS tab.

EDIT: changed from Gear_Buffs tab to DPS tab as pointed out below.

My DPS goes from 5124 to 5155 when I enable the 40 hit food.

I searched all throughout the Gears_Buffs tab and couldn't find any option to enable or disable Misery. Where is it located?

Assuming the latest version is similar to the one I use (don't have office 2k7), then it's on the DPS tab, under debuffs, and Imp FF/Misery should be set to 3.

i have really alot of skill since im a paladin

If anyone has a version of the 3.08 sheet that works in Excel 2003, could they possibly upload it to Filefront or some other site so that others could download it? I'm having a hell of a time trying to get it to work properly; just doesn't want to work for me.

First off, I want just want to thank Bakka for this spreadsheet.

I finally got around to hitting 80 on my warlock, found this spreadsheet, and started tinkering. I am currently using a variation of the 55/15 Felguard build, and thought the spreadsheet had my dps a lot higher than I felt it should be. This got me to start looking into the formulas and settings to see what I was inputting wrong.

Right off the bat I noticed I had some things wrong with my Felguard setup in the spreadsheet, so I started looking at those formulas, and couldn't figure out why it was showing his AP to be MUCH higher than it was. Looking at the cells that it referenced and doing the math myself, I couldn't come up with the figure that Excel was giving me.
=(608+pet_ap+other_ap)
With my current stats/setup this should have translated to =(608+947+0) or 1555. However, my Excel is telling that this formula equals 3011. If I remove the () it results in the proper answer. I'm a complete Excel nub so I don't understand why adding the () would result in a different answer.

What I would like to know is if this is simply an error/bad configuration somewhere on my part, and to draw attention to it for the benefit of others if not. I notice in this thread that Nenad brought up some dps differences with his FG, but haven't seen anyone touch on this particular miscalculation.

edit 4/8/09 - I also noticed the calculation for a Humans spirit is wrong. The current calculation for their racial spirit bonus is making the calculation based off of their total spirit, and it should be calculated only off of their spirit granted via items. The change I made to Gear_Buffs!M126 is:
=IF(Race="Human",M85*0.03,0)
I see where I nubbed up the top part now

I believe I've found a bug (two actually) in version 31a that becomes apparent when Immolate is used, especially with Backdraft. The symptom is that the Next Stat section of the DPS sheet shows large negative values (~-40 per point). The Gear sheet shows resulting poor recommendations.

I think a fix is to remove one of the two "(1+0.03*aftermath)*" parts out of both B64 and B72 in the DPS sheet. I have used Bugzilla to report the behaviour and proposed fix to Bakka.

I'm working on a tutorial for how to setup and use the spreadsheet for new users. I know Bakka is very busy, so I'll ask users this one question:

When in the Gear tab, you have two columns for the value of an item. You can change the Hit column to "ignore after cap" but there are other options there: Hit as Crit, Hit as Haste.

Can anyone tell me what those two options are for?

I think what it does is performs a thought experiment: if you replaced the hit on this item with <haste, crit>, how would this item be sorted?

This (I think) is a somewhat weird method of enabling gear selection when you're at the hit cap. For example, when you're at the hit cap, all gear with hit gets ranked badly. But if taking a piece of hit gear allows you to sub in a piece with better stats for you (e.g. haste for a destro lock), then it's still an upgrade. Hit as haste allows easy spotting of these two-stage upgrades.

Dunno if you already made something with regards to this, but if not, here is some implementation for the t7 4p bonus:
Changes are to v3.1a

Added value to 'Advanced infos'!E5:
=IF(Gear_Buffs!B88;E6*(0.3+0.03*daegis);0)*10/lifetap_freq*IF(glyph_lifetap;1.2;1)
Added value to 'Advanced infos'!E6:
=300*(1+Gear_Buffs!B127*0.02)
Forgive me if there is something I have forgotten, but should accomodate for kings, glyph of LT, Daemonic Aegis and your LT freq.

Now, to ensure this is added to your stats, I've appended the following to Gear_buffs!G83:
+IF('Advanced infos'!B6;'Advanced infos'!D6;0)

Feel free to make these modifications yourselves if you can't wait for the next version. Hope it is of use to you.

Oh, and as an aside, personally for me (avg itemlevel of around 217, affli lock), the 4p bonus, with glyph of LT, adds up to 59.4 SP, making 4-piece a clear choice over almost any other gear combo for me personally.

Important note: Doesn't work if you set LT freq to below 10 (but neither does glyph of lifetap if you set freq to below 20). But too late to make the changes, as it's 3 am here. User beware

I believe Bakka has said that the only talent spec he has completed is "Haunt" - which no longer uses Immolate and doesn't utilise Backdraft either.

Quote from his website "Currently there is only a single template defined (haunt) and importing talents from armory WILL NOT WORK. DO NOT DO IT. You will probably corrupt the spreadsheet if you try."

An addendum to my post above.

First off, a correction to field 'Advanced infos'!E5, as I realized it produces 0 if you have not set Fel Armor to on, while it should produce E6*(glyphlifetap modifier)*frequency of lifetap. The following code should be more appropiate:
=(IF(Gear_Buffs!B88;E6*(0.3+0.03*daegis);0)+E6*IF(glyph_lifetap;0.2;0))*10/lifetap_freq
And the culprit for the "do not put freq under 10 (for 4p bonus) or 20 (for LT glyph), should be this factor:
*10/lifetap_freq
If you change to :
*IF(10/lifetap_freq <= 1;10/lifetap_freq;1)
it will prevent the factor from going into undesired values. Same can be done for the glyph, just replace 10 with 20.

Thus, the final entry in E5 should be:
=(IF(Gear_Buffs!B88;E6*(0.3+0.03*daegis);0)+E6*IF(glyph_lifetap;0.2;0))*IF(10/lifetap_freq <= 1;10/lifetap_freq;1)
