Ooo, ouch. So just enter the names of my gear, the names of the gems, enchants, etc. ?
EDIT: "matter of minutes"? I've looked at it further and it looks very time intensive. Since I don't want to spend $100 on MS Office, I guess I'm SOL.

This keeps cropping up with not a lot we can do about it as a community without a lot of effort on one persons behalf?
Would a wiki on WoW Warlock DPS Spreadsheet be worthwhile, or failing that a page on wowwiki.com?
[edit]
Just noticed on the site FAQ this entry that could do with updating:
Where can I get more information and give feedback about the spreadsheet ?
Try : http://elitistjerks.com/f31/t10065-a...s_spreadsheet/.

If you specced for Demonic Sacrifice then it will assume you will sac the pet, so the easiest solution I found was just setting Demonic Sacrifice to 0 in the Talents tab and it should work.

Not sure how this can take you more than a one-time 5-10 minute job (you can save the sheet at that point). There's a dropdown for each slot, and you select the name of the gems and enchants. If you're saying doing a tiny bit of work is not worth it, I'd say you came to the wrong forum!

Ok, the mistake was setting 1 point into Demonic Sacrifice. It really screws numbers. Anyway since no one use this talent as a primary way to do damage I think the author can ignore these errors.
I'd like to ask, though, about melee buffs that could raise FG damage. In Gear_Buffs tab there is not reference to Warrior shouts, LotP from druids, windfury, unleased rage etc. I'd like to see these buffs as an option for the sole purpose to find the "sweet point" when 31/40 will overcome FG/Emberstorm damage for instance. At the present version most (all actually) buffs refer to spell damaging abilities.
Oh, and thanks for the great job btw

31/40 doesn't overcome FG/Emberstorm at any expected gear level in wrath, according to the simcraft and leulier calcs that have been done so far if you take the empirical dps results of the FG instead of the leulier-predicted ones. I am still confused as to where people are getting the idea (both here and the wow forums) that it does. It was a reasonable expectation when we first saw the builds 2 months ago (one in fact that I had myself and posted about at the time), but it just hasn't been supported by any theorycraft, and certainly not by any empirical results that I've seen.
To answer your other question, bakka has posted in this thread that he realizes pet dps is off, particularly in the case of the FG. if more people post reg and raid buffed stats for the FG i'm sure he'd be more willing to try to correct the discrepancy.
Since his spreadsheet typically models the FG at around 500 dps, just add 500 dps to builds that use the FG (or post data). That should give you a reasonable point for comparison between different specs/gear levels.

I did not realize there were dropdowns. It's still time consuming, but man that makes it a LOT easier and a tolerable amount of work now. Thanks.
EDIT: All filled out now. That wasn't bad at all and indeed only took 5-10 minutes (I was dreading having to fill that all in manually, heh). However now that I have my gear, talents, and glyphs actually filled out, I'm clueless as to what to do. I can't figure out which tabs are for internal use (calculations) and which will give me my DPS, etc.

The DPS, Gear_buffs and Items tab are the most useful. DPS will show you how much expected DPS you can get as well as the stat values for +1 point in any of them. You can try adding/deleting talents or spells to use to see if they'll shift your damage up or down. The Gear tab lets you try out different gear/gems and see if you can increase damage as well. The items tab shows you a complete list of gear and multiplies it by the current item-values you have to show you any upgrades from the current gear available in game.

Perhaps something isn't working because this is all I see. Note that that isn't my talents (I entered them on the "Talents" tab) and clicking "Load" pops up an error message.

This is due to the macros not functioning properly in OpenOffice. I've been using the msft product solely for a while, so if anyone has experience with OpenOffice macros, speak up! I'm going to try to at least make an OO-friendly version (even if it has no macros) this week. We'll see how successful that is...

Thanks. I unfortunately am too much of a cheapskate to purchase (and too lazy to steal) Office for the handful of times a year I use a spreadsheet or word processor.

OpenOffice fix (part I)
When you open the file with OpenOffice, many cells have a ?MACRO error. I found a fix for this (it's pretty ghetto, since I haven't coded anything since I was 12... If you have a cleaner way to reach the same results, please let me know), however I still haven't figured out the talent/gear loading yet. That's next!
To fix the ?MACRO errors:
1) Open the program.
2) ALT F11. This should open a browser for your macros.
3) Go to "My Macros" > "Standard". You should see "Module1" which has only 1 macro existing in it, "Main". (note: If you have written other macros before, there might be more here... I don't think it really matters so long as it's somewhere in the "My Macros" section.)
4) Select this and click "Edit" on the right.
5) Paste this at the end of all the text in the window:
Function GLOBALCOOLDOWN(GCD, HASTE, MOREHASTE)
If HASTE + MOREHASTE > 0 Then
If GCD / (1 + HASTE + MOREHASTE) > 1 Then
GLOBALCOOLDOWN = GCD / (1 + HASTE + MOREHASTE)
Else
GLOBALCOOLDOWN = 1
End If
Else
GLOBALCOOLDOWN = 1.5
End If
End Function
6) Close it out and re-open the spreadsheet.
If that doesn't work for folks, please let me know and I'll see what I can do.
EDIT: added more specific steps...

Thanks for taking a look at some of this Tricky. If anyone figures out what needs to change in the spreadsheet so that it's universally compatible, I'll be more than happy to add those changes. But I do not have the time to figure it out myself.
In regards to changing certain aspects of the leulier web site to make it more user friendly (updating faq, adding a wiki, etc.). These are things I can't do. Leulier still owns the site and has ultimate admin authority on it. I only have admin for new posts and editing certain links.

Sounds like it's intended not to work in this case. If I can figure out how to change them to work, I'll post a step-by-step on how to update it.

Sorry, I'll make my steps more specific. If you just open the program in my steps it should have defaulted to "My Macros" which should have only 1 module in it, "Main". Click Edit on the right and paste at the bottom of all the text in the window.
EDIT: made the steps in my post above more specific, please refer to that.

It did, but I was thinking I was editing an existing Macro.
The DPS table works great now. Thanks!
Now to re-add my talents as it doesn't seem to be importing it from the "Talents" tab...

None of the macros will work, still (for items tab, gear tab, dps tab, talents, etc). Going to see if the change is trivial or if I need to find a VBA guide.

Yeah, here's the error I get BTW if it helps:
Even though it's a bit more manual than intended though, it's still working great.

For those of you who use OpenOffice, use the Novell edition and vba macros work fine with no modifications to the spreadsheet. So glad I took all 30 seconds of time to google that tid bit of info and then an hour to download and install.

Am I wrong that it's not free? Or are they just attempting to sell me an enterprise version and the regular version of their "fork" (of sorts) is free?

It's a fully functioning version. Open office is Open source and they cant charge for it. Novell has a distribution and Sun has one.
