Warlock Gear Compendium v3.2
Let's get the reasoning out of the way first:
There is a thread for Gear - Check
There is a thread for Trinkets - Check
Why make a new one for both topics?
Because to the very average endgame warlock, the simcraft compilation is just a big mess(that might sound harsh but it is very true) and 2 major topics to warlock gearing are not being touched: - Demand of others
- Alternatives to the BiS gear
A second note on the Compendium itself:
Finding, compiling, formatting and reposting all this information of which the vast majority has not been posted like this before is a LOT of work. Consider this post a work in progress for the coming days(or weeks even).
I´m personally thankful for any comments, useful additions and gear set changes - keeping track of it all is very time consuming.
Setting up the BiS gearset already was a lot of work, setting up any alternatives to that and running them through Simcraft is something to consider at the very end of compiling this post.
A] Demand of others
We share our Most-wanted gear with a lot of other classes and their specs, see below for a compiled version(which is still lacking Moonkins and all healing classes):
| Class | Mage | Mage | Mage | Warlock | Shadowpriest | Shaman | | Spec | 20/51/0 | 57/3/11 | 0/53/18 | any | 13/0/58 | 57/14/0 | | Link | Link | Link | Link | Link | | | | Head | T9 | T9 | T9 | T9 | T9 | T9 | | Neck | Wail of the Valkyr | Wail of the Valkyr | Wail of the Valkyr | Wail of the Valkyr | Wail of the Valkyr | Wail of the Valkyr | | Shoulders | T9 | T9 | T9 | T9 | T9 | T9 | | Back | Aethas Intensity | Aethas Intensity | Aethas Intensity | Bolvars devotion | Aethas Intensity | Aethas Intensity | | Chest | Skyweaver Vestments | Skyweaver Vestments | Flowing Vestments of Ascent | T9 | T9 | T9 | | Wrist | Dark Essence Bindings | Armbands of the Ashen Saint | Dark Essence Bindings | Armbands of the Ashen Saint | Bejeweled wizards bracers | Bejeweled wizards bracers | | Hands | T9 | T9 | T9 | T9 | T9 | T9 | | Waist | Belt of the Tenebrous Mist | Belt of the Tenebrous Mist | Belt of Biting Cold | Icehowl binding | Belt of Biting Cold | Belt of Biting Cold | | Legs | T9 | T9 | T9 | T9 | T9 | leggings of the awakening | | Feet | Boots of the Mourning Widow | Boots of the Mourning Widow | Boots of the Mourning Widow | Boots of the Mourning Widow | Boots of the Mourning Widow | boots of tremoring earth | | Ring1 | Firestorm Band | Circle of the Darkmender | Circle of the Darkmender | Band of deplorable violence | Band of deplorable violence | Nebula Band | | Ring2 | Lurid Manifestation | Lurid Manifestation | Lurid Manifestation | Conductive seal | Firestorm Band | Circle of the Darkmender | | Trinket1 | Reign of the Dead 258 | Reign of the Dead 258 | Reign of the Dead 258 | Reign of the Dead 258 | Reign of the Dead 258 | Reign of the Dead 258 | | Trinket2 | Reign of the Dead 245 | Reign of the Dead 245 | Reign of the Dead 245 | Reign of the Dead 245 | Reign of the Dead 245 | Reign of the Dead 245 | | Mainhand | Mortalis | Mortalis | Mortalis | Barb of tarasque | Miserys end | Barb of tarasque | | Offhand | Symbol of Transgression | Lightbane Focus | Symbol of Transgression | Lightbane Focus | Chalice of searing light | bastion of resolve | | Ranged | Petrified Ivy Sprig | Rod of Imprisoned Souls | Petrified Ivy Sprig | Petrified Ivy Sprig | Rod of Imprisoned Souls | totem of electrifying wind |
B] Alternatives to the BiS gear
This list of alternative gear pieces is compiled with two things in mind, effective DPS gain and keeping the hit/non-hit items in their respective slots. Switching around 2-x gear pieces essentially switches around the whole Simcraft of the profile - something that might be a topic on future addtions to this post.
Top = BiS, going downwards in ranking
The Trinket Discussion[Date, 02/09/09]
Kudos to all the work go to Grand Warlock Warlocomotif for his effort on Trinkets.

X] General noteworthy posts and information
T8/T9 Set bonus values in SP(taken with a grain of salt please)
T8
2pc = 130
4pc = 100
T9
2pc = 220
4pc = 130 (with the added benefit of stronger corruptions while moving)

I suppose those BiS t9 pieces are ilvl258, but considering a more realistic and common situation (a.k.a you can't get 5 hard-mode tokens) are 5 t9 items still BiS? And what about specs with 3/3 suppression (EDIT: Nevermind about this point, I found an answer in the simcraft post)? Also: are you considering horde or alliance with these calculations?
Thanks for all your hard work =)

Theres a different belt for 3/13/55 and for the mage specs on Alliance side.
The Spriests have a variety of different gear sets to dig through.

Can you please elaborate on how you came up with the Warlock BiS list. I'm asking because I'm noticing some odd choices, such as 5x T9 or Flare of the Heavens instead of Reign x2.
I believe that there should be at least two sets listed for Warlocks, depending on whether Suppression is taken.
Using the method described in this post I get the following results:
Conditions & Assumptions
- Target Hit is 368 (14%) without having to use Icewalker enchant.
- Value of 4pc T9 outweights BiS alternatives
- Horde version of items are listed
Using the 0/13/58 weights:
| SP | 1.59 | | HIT | 0.00 | | CRIT | 0.82 | | HASTE | 1.10 | | SPIRIT | 1.02 | | INT | 0.31 | | STA | 0.00 |
| Hit Diff | T9 Diff | Slot | No Hit Name | No Hit DPS | Hit | Hit Name | Hit DPS | Hit | T9 Name | T9 DPS | T9 Hit | | -11.29 | | Wand | Scepter of Imprisoned Souls | 140.31 | | Petrified Ivy Sprig | 129.02 | 27 | | | | | -43.18 | | MH | Mortallis | 1263.54 | | Barb of the Tarasque | 1220.36 | 51 | | | | | -45.65 | | OH | Mystifying Charm | 284.03 | | Lightbane Focus | 238.38 | 43 | | | | | -64.5 | | Wrists | Bindings of the Ashen Saint | 314.11 | | Dark Essence Bindings | 249.61 | 43 | | | | | -72.52 | | Neck | Cry of the Val'kyr | 296.91 | | Darkbane Amulet | 224.39 | 42 | | | | | -74 | | Finger 2 | Conductive Seal | 271.64 | | Shimmering Seal | 197.64 | 42 | | | | | -76.05 | -91.71 | Hand | Handwraps of the Lifeless Touch | 417.7 | | Looming Shadow Wraps | 341.65 | 51 | Guldan's Gloves of Triumph | 325.99 | 68 | | -80.26 | | Finger 1 | Lurid Manifestation | 297.33 | | Firestorm Band | 217.07 | 56 | | | | | -83.66 | | Waist | Belt of the Tenebrous Mist | 428.42 | | Belt of the Biting Cold | 344.76 | 58 | | | | | -84.62 | | Feet | Sandals of the Mourning Widow | 453.12 | | Boots of the Icy Floes | 368.5 | 60 | | | | | -87.08 | -113.55 | Chest | Flowing Robes of Ascent | 576.77 | | Skyweaver Vestments | 489.69 | 86 | Guldan's Robe of Triumph | 463.22 | 94 | | -97.84 | | Back | Lady Liandrin's Conviction | 363.41 | | Shroud of Displacement | 265.57 | 49 | | | | | -98.94 | 0 | Shoulders | Guldan's Shoulderpads of Triumph | 382.53 | | Pauldrons of Catastrophic Emanation | 283.59 | 67 | Guldan's Shoulderpads of Triumph | 382.53 | | | -110.43 | 0 | Head | Guldan's Hood of Triumph | 484.44 | | Hood of Smoldering Aftermath | 374.01 | 74 | Guldan's Hood of Triumph | 484.44 | | | -125.43 | | Trinket 2 | Flare of the Heavens | 368.7 | | Dying Curse | 243.27 | 71 | | | | | -129.36 | -39.79 | Leg | Pants of the Soothing Touch | 586.17 | | Breeches of the Deepening Void | 456.81 | 94 | Guldan's Legging of Triumph | 546.38 | | | -223.85 | | Trinket 1 | Reign of the Dead | 467.12 | | Dying Curse | 243.27 | 71 | | | |
This screenshot illustrates the decision process:
The optimal set is:
| Slot | Name | ilvl | Source | | MH | Barb of the Tarasque | 258 | Northrend Beasts 25 Hard | | Chest | Flowing Robes of Ascent | 258 | Northrend Beasts 25 Hard | | Leg | Guldan's Legging of Triumph | 258 | ToC 25 Hard | | Head | Guldan's Hood of Triumph | 258 | ToC 25 Hard | | Trinket 1 | Reign of the Dead | 258 | Anub'arak 25 Hard | | Feet | Sandals of the Mourning Widow | 258 | Faction Champions 25 Hard | | Waist | Belt of the Tenebrous Mist | 258 | Northrend Beasts 25 Hard | | Shoulders | Guldan's Shoulderpads of Triumph | 258 | ToC 25 Hard | | Trinket 2 | Flare of the Heavens | 239 | General Vezax 25 Hard | | Back | Lady Liandrin's Conviction / Aetha's Intensity* | 272 | Tribute Chest 25 | | Hand | Guldan's Gloves of Triumph | 258 | ToC 25 Hard | | Wrists | Dark Essence Bindings | 258 | Twin Val'kyrs 25 Hard | | OH | Lightbane Focus | 245 | Twin Val'kyrs 10 Hard | | Neck | Darkbane Amulet | 245 | Twin Val'kyrs 10 Hard | | Finger 2 | Firestorm Band | 245 | Lord Jaraxxmus 10 Hard | | Finger 1 | Shimmering Seal | 226 | Flame Leviathan 10 Hard | | Wand | Petrified Ivy Sprig | 226 | Freya 10 Hard |
*Lady Liandrin's Conviction is marginally better than Aetha's Intensity, I would strongly recommend to try to get either.
Alternatives that are worth getting until the optimal piece is obtained (these are chosen so that the same slots use hit as the optimal set):
All ilvl 245 versions of the ilvl 258 items listed
and
| Slot | Name | ilvl | Source | | Chest | Merlin's Robe | 245 | Crafted | | Feet | Sandals of the Grieving Soul | 245 | Twin Val'kyrs 10 Hard | | Feet | Sunreaver Magus' Sandals | 245 | Faction Champions 10 Hard | | MH | Sunreaver Disciple's Blade | 245 | Faction Champions 10 Hard | | MH | Spellharvest | 245 | Tribute Chest 10 | | Trinket | Illustration of the Dragon Soul | 213 | OS 25 No Drakes | | Trinket | Scale of Fates | 219 | Thorim 25 | | Waist | Belt of the Eternal | 245 | Anub'arak 10 Hard | | Back | Shawl of the Fervent/Devout Crusader | 245 | Tribute Chest 10 | | Wrist | Felspark Bracers | 245 | Lord Jaraxxmus 10 Hard |
---
The DPS values listed in the tables include intelligent gemming.
None of the new Onyxia gear was used in the calculations so this list is far from final.
The list doesn't use Reign x2, at the time I wasn't sure if the normal and heroic version of items could be worn simultaneously. Reign x2 would be the best trinket combination by far.

No. Iirc (Heroic)Skyweaver Vestments are our BiS Chest for most if not all of our specs. There's also Gloves of Looming Shadows, Handwraps of Lifeless Touch, & Flowing Robes of the Ascent that are better than our Tiered counterparts.

The BiS caster list that I initially compiled starting from http://elitistjerks.com/f80/t48311-s...5/#post1379862 and the following page was on trial and error.
You´ll also notice that the haste scaling there goes up to 1.5 - which I kept as guideline for it.
I also switched out the chest piece to [Skyweaver Vestments] - which resulted in a lower DPS after the simcraft.
If you find a better set, or even a single better item to replace - run it through simcraft in a profile.
The BiS profile currently in use also uses only one version of Reign of the dead, as it´s not verified yet(you always may provide a detailed example), that they stack.(And i don't think either Diivil or the person from Premonition have the double version at the moment)

I have a question on the choices for the T9, did you take into account that the 4 piece bonus of T9 does not increase the damage of Conflagrate? Through testing, it has been found that the 4 piece bonus for T9 does not boost Conflagrate like the 2 piece T8 bonus (as noted by Zalakwe, Blizzard seems to have to flag whether Conflagrate is effected by the bonus or not). I know that I saw mention of this in the simulcraft thread. If this is the case, and I don't doubt Zalakwe in this reguard, then you would be best to get 2 piece T9 and fill the remaining 3 slots with the BiS non-T9 items. Now, what would need to be determined is which 2 of the 5 T9 pieces would be the best overall.

This post suggests that 4pc T9 not affecting conflag is a bug, as per a GM. Whether or not you trust this statement is up to you as this has not been confirmed officially.
If you want to run a simcraft with only 2pc T9, I would suggest the head and shoulders as these pieces are the BiS.

For Alliance side Suppression Destro, I'm planning on using the following gearset:
chardev.org v6 ~ a World of Warcraft character planner
Swap the neck, ring 2, and trinket 1 with the heroic versions, and the cloak with the 25-man Tribute to Insanity cloak.
Unless I'm missing something, this appears to be the best setup thus far.
Opted to go with Flare as the second trinket since 2x Reign of the Unliving is likely to get nerfed at some point due to PvP complaints. There's obviously a chance it wont, but I'd rather err on the side of caution for the time being until they start to go on rot.

As before, unless someone does one, none will exist.
If you can come up with ~scaling values and stats focus I´m sure someone will be able to fix it(the simcraft thread doesn't have any either).
If anyone has some Druid insight, I´d appreciate to add it.

Something for the spreadsheet crunchers to factor into their sets. The ilevel 258 version of Leggings of the Deepening Void dropped off our heroic Anub kill yesterday:
Leggings of the Deepening Void (Heroic, ilevel 258)
303 armor
+116 stamina
+116 intellect
R, B, Y sockets (+9 spell power socket bonus)
151 spell power
94 hit rating
86 critical strike rating

You have to choose between wearing the T9 Legs and the T9 Chest. The reason most people choose the legs is because there's a chestpiece, Skyweaver Robes, and another off of Northrend Beasts, that are itemized with hit/spirit, haste and spellpower, as opposed to these which have crit on them. Not to mention that the T9 chestpiece is itemized worse than the legs are, so you're generally better off wearing the legs to get your 4p bonus

Yeah, I'm not saying the leggings should go into a BIS set. Just throwing the item out there since the anub loot table is still relatively unknown. (And although you can infer his loot from the normal 25 table to reasonable accuracy, it's good to know when the heroic versions have extra perks like the extra socket on the leggings).

You can find all the current SimulationCraft profiles at: simulationcraft - Revision 3362: /trunk/profiles
The default races we chose for Mages and Warlocks were Undead and as such their profiles will have the Horde versions of each item. The default race in SimCraft for Priests is Night-Elf (in large part because I play a Night-Elf Shadow Priest but also because, like Undead, Night-Elves have no racials abilities that boost DPS).
As for the Warlock trinkets, the only specs that benefit from having Flare of the Heavens + Reign of the Dead(258) rather than Reign of the Dead(245) + Reign of the Dead(258) are Affliction. (I simmed them a couple of days ago and updated the profiles to match).

First time post, but been reading for a while. Hope this is the correct area for this post. Above pelux is using a diff set of stat weights that i use for 0/13/58. I use the stats from "The Mage Equiv.- The Destro Lock" There they list Stat Weight
Intellect 0.58
Spirit 0.74
Crit rating 1.04
Haste rating 1.56
Spell power 1.54
I was wondering if i could get some more input on what weights i should actually be using.

Welcome to the forum, the stats used these days all come from the Simmulation Craft thread under whichever spec you are running. The stats in the Mage Equiv thread are more than likely old or a personal breakdown. Hope this helps.

As a semi-casual 0/56/15 lock, I've been dying to figure out a BiS set. I'll post what I've come up with here, since there are probably quite a few others in a similar situation, and you may find this useful. This assumes the following:
- 13% hit needed (alliance side)
- No Heroic mode loot, from either 10 or 25man ToC (this is somewhat taken into account; see further comments)
chardev.org v6 ~ a World of Warcraft character planner
This set was generated using the following criteria:
- 13% hit, partially through gems, with the ability to lose any hit from gems by upgrading to heroic-mode pieces
- hit items are to be taken for those slots where there do not exist DPS alternatives with SPI, in order to maximize the amount of SP/SPI gear
Other notes of interest:
- The non-Heroic mode loot uses 2 +20 hit gems to reach the cap (only 5 hit rating over the cap), and that when upgrading to Heroic-mode loot, both gems may be dropped (but the user remains at 2 hit rating *under* the cap, fyi).
- One trinket slot is left free. I haven't bothered to fill it in, since so many trinkets exist, and I, personally, have very limited access to them.
- The wand used is the triumph badge +hit wand, instead of the Petrified Ivy Sprig, since I'll never have the opportunity to get it.
Edit: Without thinking, I added in the enchants from my own professions,tailoring/engineering: Lightweave Embroidery, Hyperspeed Accelerators, Nitro Boosts. I.e., this set does *not* include Icewalker.

I've had some of the same questions that I've seen posted in this thread and started working on a little web utility to help answer them. Maybe some of you will find it useful as well. OptiGear and the spreadsheets are great, but I wanted something a little more simple and don't like the idea of downloading other peoples software and running it on my computer. I still need to add more classes and some better calculations for trinkets etc, but I'm finding it very useful and wanted to give back to the community after getting so much from it.
Here's a link to my warlocks page using the tool: minmaxwow.com: world of warcraft item, player, realm, and guild rankings.
On the main index page you can enter your characters name and realm, and it'll pull your armory and the compare your currently equiped gear versus the top X items it considers best. Or you can just search by slot and browse the items ordered by dps.
i also imported all the characters from the top 1000 US guilds (according to wowprogress) and ran the calculations against all the warlocks. You can browse them (ordered by gear dps) from the link on the top of the page. It's still a work in progress, but some of you might get some use out of it. Cheers,
