Sword and Board stilll increases the rage generated from the following SS, so the proc isn't completely wasted.
Though I agree it feels clunky. Maybe delaying Revenge by one GCD will result in more SSs overall, because the proc chance is pretty huge (60%).
I'm still not sure how the full rotation pans out. Before, Devastate had a 3 sec cd so I imagined it very akin to the current Fury rotation, consisting of Devastate > filler > Devastate (even though for all purposes SS is a higher priority ability).
Now, with it having a 4.5 sec CD, I see a lot of empty gcds happening, because we don't have abilities to fill in.
Thunder Clap has huge rage cost so I suppose it would only be used for the debuff, because the rage spent means less shield blocks and shield barriers. I guess the fillers depend heavily on your talent choices. Speccing into Impending Victory seems a good idea, but that has a 30 sec cd. Storm Bolt will most likely reset your swing timer like Heroic Throw does. Shockwave might be viable, but you're missing avatar.

MoP Arms Warrior Discussion - Forums - World of Warcraft
I have created a new MoP Arms Discussion thread on EU Forums, and included 2 Rotation samples as well as a list of all the changes that have been made. I request you all to please do read and contribute to the discussion, if you have an EU Account. You may of course borrow from the discussion there to discuss on it here as well.
If people are interested, I may also create an MoP Fury Discussion thread.

Does anyone have any idea if bloodbath will stack with CS?
Does it do 30% of the damage the ability does or 30% of the damage you do as listed by your character sheet?
If the former, it could outperform deadly calm since it can be stacked with avatar and the durations are more similar

Since Bloodbath applies a DoT, it would fall to logical reason that if DoTs were affected by CS, then the Bloodbath DoT would be affected as well.
Also, I think the DoT does 30% of the damage the ability does, and not the Character Screen Weapon damage, otherwise it would be worse than Deadly Calm.
Also, Stormbolt currently beats Deadly Calm, even with the new version of DC that buffs HS/Cleave damage by 50%. Especially considering the fact that you can buff 2x Stormbolt in 1 minute with CS.
Deadly Calm right now is more of an offensive AOE-only CD compared to the others on the same tier, than a single target CD.
Bloodbath on the other hand, we cannot really speculate on this until we get to the Beta, as we have yet to determine whether the DoT stack damage gets increased by successive abilities used within its duration.

Deadly Calm has a lot more potential than people are giving it credit for. You can fit all 3 free HS into a CS, but the main strength I see is allowing for a lot of enrage uptime. Because Enrage lasts 6 secs and the Deadly Calm buff lasts 15 sec, you could potentially hold each free HS to maximize your uptime, since Enrage is activated by yellow crits only (don't forget Incite).

A more recent blue post indicated that Thunderclap will not cost any rage either, so the only things to spend rage on are heroic strike, cleave and shield block/barrier. It does mean that by spamming TC within our single target rotation we should be able to avoid any empty gcds, but it does seem to make the rotation for more complex than ever before with so many cooldowns to keep an eye on. Also you probably have to spec into some or all of the talents that give new attacks to fill up your gcds, which is quite a restriction on choice. Before you could just use a devastate if you ended up with nothing off cd to use and it wasn't a big loss but now if you go wrong you'll have nothing to do but spend 1.5+seconds feeling stupid for messing it up.
This seems completely at odds with their posts that they're trying to simplify our tanking rotation because we have so many abilities to deal with. The other possibility is that shield block/barrier is no longer off the global cooldown and actually is filling the empty gcds in our rotation. That would probably prevent the need for heavy TC spam, but would mean we're contantly using abilities that don't deal any damage at all, which isn't very satisfying (to me at least). I would hope that the blues would have given us a post to indicate that if it were true though, so it likely is still off gcd.
Even if all the abilities cost 0 rage in the MoP model I don't see why we couldn't keep the identical rotation we have right now. We tend to use our current abilities due to their damage/threat rather than damage per rage (except for HS which is more damage than devastate but much worse dpr), and largely ignore their rage cost (again with the exception of HS which is only used at high rage). I don't think any of us would feel motivated to spam devastate even if it costed no rage when we could be pressing shield slam instead.
Also I'm a little concerned by the HS change. It's now 100% of weapon damage instead of being AP based, this means it'll be significantly lower for tanks (before vengeance..) than for 2h dps. But I suppose they can balance around the numbers to make it work.
Still sad that collosus smash is gone for prot, but I do acknowledge that the vast majority of tanks never used it anyway.

For PVE, any thoughts about going with Stormbolt for our last pick?
Usable every 30secs and bosses arent stunable, so thats 300% damage every 30 seconds and its a rage free. I guess we have to see if it scales with AP and how hard it will hit, but I'm sure it will. Maybe its going to be a glorified, heroic throw.
Not sure if it will be better than Blood Bath or Deadly Calm.

I could see Stormbolt as useful in some situations, for example on Throne of the Four Winds where you fight the council, and have to pop that bubble really really fast or die horribly. Deep Freeze was really helpful on that platform.
Again that's super situational, and probably not practical, but still useful on occasion, % modifier attacks can be funny like that.

Deadly Calm also adds +50% more damage to the next three HS/Cleave.

This is a pretty important change. Right now HS is a huge portion (25-30%) of prot warriors possible damage. Reducing it to weapon dependant instead of attackpower dependant reduce the gap between using it and using shield block instead for more safety. Plus it helps in low rage scenarios and multiple tank fights when warrior lack enough rage to maintain HS spamming on top of their regular abilities.

Heroic Throw resets your swing timer, if Stormbolt is in a similar boat it's rather hard to time it and it costs a GCD while eg Deadly Calm in it's current form doesn't.
Other: war banner, no opinions on that? Bringing a raidwide +30% more critical strike chance buff for 15s to the table instead of getting rid of all unique (raid)buffs is a wrong move imho - imagine this buff avaible on a fight like Spine heroic.

Yes, you can fit all 3 HS in a CS. You can do the same with Stormbolt, and you can do it twice.
Furthermore, Incite no longer adds 15% Crit chance to Heroic Strike which means you cannot rely on Incite procs to enable better Enrage up time. It's only a possibility.
OT : I have plotted out two Sample Rotations, one with Zero Enrage Uptime, and the other with 100% Enrage uptime. In both cases you would not be using Heroic Strike unless under Deadly Calm, and there would be no point using DC when Stormbolt does way more damage. As for swing timers, Stormbolt is like Deadly Throw, and it doesn't reset the swing timer, but instead forces a full melee swing. Landsoul posted the same in the Arms Thread.

As for the sample rotations, here they are. Feel free to check the math.

I am going to consider a sample size of 60 seconds, since Mortal Strike is 6 second CD and there will be 10 iterations of Mortal Strikes. I will be taking 2 cases into consideration, where Enrage is active, and Enrage is not.
Conditions taken into consideration :
-> 3.6 Weapon Speed. This seems to be the norm as of this moment.
-> 10% Haste buff. This is almost always provided as several classes can provide this.
-> Charge is taken into consideration once at the start of the fight.
Without Enrage :
That will be 23 Rage every melee autoattack, and an autoattack occurs every 3.3 seconds.
0.0 Battle Shout 20 Rage

Practically you could use 2x Storm Bolts inside these 60 seconds in the places where the Pauses occur. However the first Pause occurs at 28.5s for the First Case, and at 34.5s for the Second Case. Hence you may need to use it right after the CS, which will change the rage generation and hence the rotation and so on and so forth.
Frankly, the fact that pauses occur even when we have 100% Enrage uptime disturbs me greatly.

The Glyph of Hoarse Voice looks like it would allow shouts to be inserted into the arms rotation more often for a smaller rage boost if the warrior is rage starved. It will be interesting to see if this becomes an almost required glyph. It probably will not become important due to it wasting 2 GCDs instead of one, but its an interesting idea.
Other then that the only viable glyphs that I can see are Glyph of Cleaving and Glyph of Overpower.
What do you all think of GoHV and if it would be better to split it into 2 smaller shouts like that. Once I get into beta I will try out the glyph to see how it feels.

Spent about 15 minutes today on a training dummy as TG Fury, and I had to ask myself, was there really a need to change us so drastically once again?
At this point I have to believe that our revamp is not totally finished, because the rotation is so clunky it's a wonder how it got to this point. I'm finding that the time spent enraged is so low, (read-only when beserk rage is up) that you only get a raging blow once every 30 seconds, and the rest of the time is spent Heroic Strike spamming for the most part. Obviously you're hoping for procs off of your Bloodthirst (which is now on a 6 sec cd) so that you can jam your offhand swing once a second for 3 seconds, but in no way do I find this new focus on utilizing Wild Strike more fun.
I personally felt like warriors were at a good place and don't feel like adding extra tedium to our rotation translates to fun.
Anyone else had an opportunity to play around with it? Your thoughts?
I'll also add that Dragon Shout hits for around 35-40k non crit/non colossus smash, and on a one minute cooldown I'm not sure where it's going to fit in to PVE when Bladestorm seems such a better option.
I am also missing the presence of Deathwish after some 8 odd years of using it. Sometimes newer isn't better and I'm missing the proverbial warm blanket right now.

While I haven't received an invite yet and can't comment on the new rotation, I do feel the current rotation is monotonous and needs addressing.
I agree that reinventing a playstyle every expansion can get old. Nevertheless, this is personally outweighed by the sheer boredom incurred by BT - X - BT - Y - BT etc. With a low-priority proc and the 'added wrinkles' of knowing when to HS (i.e. enough rage) or if you're enraged, I just don't find it very compelling.
Having said all that, the new rotation does seem pretty bland on paper. I do like the general idea of tinkering with a lower GCD as I think it fits Fury's frenetic pace from a thematic standpoint, but spamming 3xWS off of BS procs doesn't seem very exciting.

A quick note about lack of enrage uptime: I think the boss dummy is now level 93 and has some sort of crit resistance. I was noticing now enrages, and started watching for crits and was not getting any over 5 minutes. So I switched to the level 85 dummy and started getting crits and enrages. Recklessness on the boss dummy got me a few crits but not many. Just a thought on that front.

Well don't forget they buffed Bloodthirst's crit chance, more enrage uptime. I'm getting used to the new rotation, and although it's not bad, there is way more stance dancing than I'd prefer. I'll have to get used to it I guess. Also 770k Execute crits! (That's getting nerfed right?)
