One issue though is the extreme scarcity of hit rating on SWP gear. Assuming the Teron cloak and Illidan ring it seems I can only manage 125 hit rating total. Considering we won't be killing Illidan that much more often and that Teron never dropped his cloak for us so far (and lots of people lined up for it), I might not have either one, so will most likely lack 40-50 hit rating to get to a comfortable 130-140 hit rating (which I've been raiding with for quite a while now). Regarding trinkets, MotB is not an option as I have to wear Solarians (guild's only drop) and SoC is much superior as the second trinket.
How do you cope or plan to cope with that lack of hit rating? Does anyone actually run with the bare minimum of 95?
|
Getting more hit rating is not the only way of limiting rage drain due to miss streaks. You can also use fast weapons (slow-fast setup is probably the best option). The fast badge offhand seems to be a good option for you since it also has some hit rating. You will probably not lose much by going for the fast over the slow OH considering that WW is only something like 7% of your damage and that the weapon speed will only affect ~40% of that damage (rest is from normalized AP). Something like 0.07(ww part of damage)*0.4(weapon damage part in ww)*1.5/2.5 (speed factor)*0.38 (OH part in ww damage)=0.6% is the loss in total dps. I.e. completely negligible in most cases.
That aside, I think running with 95 hit rating is probably alright at BT level or higher, you will have enough rage to maintain your dps cycle. But I doubt it's the best option, you will not be able to pump out HS in the same way unless you use a fast OH.

Is the Warglaive set proc factored in when you have both in the spreadsheet? I keep getting higher DPS with my current setup of Warglaive MH, Mounting Vengeance OH, which while a great off hand, doesn't make sense to me.

theres nothing wrong with heroic strike spam so long as u have the rage for your next BT/WW but yeah as far a ssc/tk gear rage is a pretty common problem.
and to the poster that told me to download the spreadsheet. I havent used it so im unfamilier with it where can it be downloaded? ill search around and see if i can find it

I have a question
Back while i was working in the 2.3 spreadsheet, putting executioner on offhand was possible and I saw it being slightly better then mongoose on offhand for my current gear. I see that in this spreadsheet the executioner on offhand is not an option, so my question is: is it possible that putting an executioner on offhand could be better then mongoose, like it turned out for me in the "2.3 and beyond" spreadsheet?

Landsoul,
First I'd like to say great job on the spreadsheet. You definitely took a lot of time and effort and I find it very usable.
I would like to make a suggestion if possible. Is there any way that you could put the items into a separate worksheet so that we might be able to add items as they come out. Unless I'm misreading the spreadsheet I can not find a way to simply update an item or add a new item.
As I said before great job and this is only a suggestion.

If you want a new item, god forbid I don't know why you would I put every item thats worth even trying out in the sheet. Even blue items. If you find something, let me know.
I can try to reduce the size of the backgrounds.

Using the latest spreadsheet, I'm seeing DPS drops going from best gear BT/Hyjal (except T6 boots/bracers/belt) with every plate "upgrade" in Sunwell.
Is this right?

? No, it shouldn't check talents/raid page because a lot of the DPS comes from there not just gear.

Alright, tonight on Anetheron I accidentally forgot to take off my 2 swiftsteel bludgeons enchanted with mongoose that i use for execute spam, and I used them on him.
My dps was quite a bit higher this week then when I use my dragonstrike/blade of infamy.
So I grabbed a tank and went to blasted lands, using test intervals of 5-6 minutes which seems to be about normal boss fight time my duel swiftsteel bludgeons is beating my dragonstrike and blade of infamy everytime in dps.
On the spreadsheet however, when I plug in all my gear it shows that I should be losing dps by using both swiftsteels, however Anetheron and several rounds of testing on tanked blast lands mobs is showing different, any thoughts?
Your link doesnt work again btw.

I had some misgivings about this in the start as well, but landsoul is really quick in updating the sheet and putting in new gear. So easiest is probably just to ask him to put in the stuff you want to be added.
If you really want to add new gear yourself you have to go in and edit the IF statements for each stat cell on the slot in question. But be very careful, it's very easy to break the sheet in this way.
Example:
The cell for str for rings looks like this (maybe not the latest version , but this is just an example)
=IF(A8="Unstoppable Aggressor's Ring";36;IF(A8="Ancestral Ring of Conquest";32;IF(A8="Mithril Band of the Unscarred";26;IF(A8="A'dal's Command";29;IF(A8="Reavers' Ring";23;IF(A8="Overseer's Signet";25;IF(A8="Resounding Ring of Glory";24;IF(A8="Acrobat's Mark of the Sha'tar";29;IF(A8="Band of Ursol";23;0)))))))))
If you want to add The 2 Ring for some reason you have to change the cell to:
=IF(A8="Unstoppable Aggressor's Ring";36;IF(A8="Ancestral Ring of Conquest";32;IF(A8="Mithril Band of the Unscarred";26;IF(A8="A'dal's Command";29;IF(A8="Reavers' Ring";23;IF(A8="Overseer's Signet";25;IF(A8="Resounding Ring of Glory";24;IF(A8="Acrobat's Mark of the Sha'tar";29;IF(A8="Band of Ursol";23;IF(A8="The 2 Ring";22;0))))))))))
The part in bold is added instead of the bold 0 in the earlier version. Then you have to do the same for every stat the item in question has.
By the way, the Use effect of Bladefist's Breadth is not modeled in the sheet, it should add some AP as well. I guess the use AP is modeled on the other trinkets but it might be worth double checking landsoul.

That's quite interesting. I've suspected for quite some time that the slow weapon superiority is vastly exaggerated. That aside, it is possible that not being fully buffed causes problems for the slow weapon setup. You will not get even close to the same rage generation as when fully raid buffed (in particular missing WF). I guess that miss streaks (what kind of hit rating were you using?) could possibly mean that you're actually missing quite a few BT's and WW's for the slow-slow setup. 2*swiftsteel will be a lot less sensitive to this. How many HS did you use for the two different tests?
By how much do the swiftsteel setup beat the slow setup in the blasted lands test? Could you perhaps post some screenshots? If you feel like redoing the test, maybe you could bring an enhance shaman to tank the mob (to get WF)?
For the Anatheron "test", things are much less controlled. Are you certain you got the same buffs as last week, were the same people in your group? Any other gear changes? Even then I'm not very surprised that Swiftsteel come out winners. They are fast, but have excellent dps and stats (better than the Dragonstrike+Infamy combo in my opinion). Lower WW damage will not be enough to counter the extra dps you gain from higher dps and better stats in this case.

There seems to be a bug in the latest version with [Righteous Weapon Coating].
When I choose it as my Offhand enchant my SEP Value for AP goes up to 10,640 and it only gives around 3 DPS.

Anetheron DPS will also depend largely on how many times you got targetted for sleep.

It's not so much the dps that I did on Anetheron, it's the fact that the rogue I never really come close to touching said in vent "Wtf are you doing different, you are trailing my balls" none of us took a crazy amount of sleeps, 1 for me, and none for him as far as he recalls. My hit rating is over cap in both setups, I don't really see how I can get the exact setup again, I'd have to wait every week and make sure everything was the same on the boss, I dont think i could get a shaman for totems and a warlock for cor to come out to blasted lands either, their sorta lazy and do whatever they want.

I think this is a fairly likely explanation. Slow weapons make you far more vulnerable to miss/mitigation-based rage starvation. Such effects are usually compensated for by buffs like WF. That said, Swiftsteel Bludgeon has pretty appealing stats and fast weapons may be needlessly taboo.
Also, a question about the sheet: Are there plans to model the Shattered Sun Pendant of Might procs? I realize this would require separate Aldor and Scryer options, but I would be interested to see how it stacks up against Pendant of the Perilous or Choker of Serrated Blades.

Judging by your hit rating, it had a very large influence. Faster weapons are a lot more forgiving on rage generation (miss) streaks with setups that have less hit than slow/slow and Heroic Strikes are more efficient as well.

Its a very nice spreadsheet but I just have one question.
On your sheet SEP shows STR as a good 10% better than Crit. Yet on grim's Crit is a good 10% better than STR. With my gear and normal raid setup.
Im aware your spreadsheet is not based on grims. But I just wonder what is so different that the SEP value fluctuates so much for STR and Crit. The other SEP values are pretty much identical between the two sheets.

I have been looking at that phenomenon as well with the these and my sheet(which I am working to clean up for release).
It seems to be that the value of STR drops significantly for execute range. About 30% or whatever execute comes out to for you is not affected by more AP, but is by crit. Grim's sheet models execute and landsoul's does not. However Grim's doesnt use BT during execute which it should. Its a tricky thing to make a consensus on though since the time you spend in execute and how much of it you have cooldowns for can vary.
I am working on a way to model execute but it ends up being so complex when you think about it that I think it may end up having to outside the power of a sheet. (or I dont know enough about statistics)

In a little way execute could be affected by AP. In between GCD's if you have more AP you will hit harder resulting in a larger rage gain and therefore a larger execute. Crit would also have the same effect however but would also affect BT. The more I think about modelling execute the more complex it becomes..
