ArP proc vs passive
What’s the passive ArP threshold required to overcome a trinket proc/uptime?
grimtoll/MJR have a 20.1% uptime, NES has 17.26% (via the SS) and assuming you are ArP softcapped, you would have 100% ArP for 20.1%/17.26% of the time vs, for example, 75% passive ArP (1050 rating) 100% of the time (no ArP proc trinket). So what would the passive ArP percentage/rating be to over come each trinket proc?
Theoretically this would give you the numbers needed for when you can drop GT/MJR/NES, to start gemming/gearing for the ArP hardcap. This is the impasse currently in front of me, but more than likely not me alone. Gut says gem ArP and go double AP trinks, just curious if its jumping the gun or if it truley is time to start the ArP hardcap quest. Either way I'd rather get an EJ spanking than a MMO-Champ disaster. Happy blendering.

After comparing some Saurfang logs with other Arms Warriors via the WoL Ranking Site I noticed that my average Deep Wounds damage is usually 300-500 damage lower than theirs. I compared my gear with a few of them, but it is around the same, no special buffs like hysteria were used. I asked myself if this is because I used Glyph of Bladestorm instead Glyph of Execute, but according to Landouls SS this should not lower my Deep Wounds Damage (and some of them were using Bladestorm Glyph too). On second thought was maybe I just got unlucky, but compared with my other logs this is not a special case, so I really have no clue.
For Log Comparison: This World of Logs - Real Time Raid Analysis is my Saurfang Log and I compared it with World of Logs - Real Time Raid Analysis because we should pull out around the same DPS Spreadsheet wise.
Not really sure if this is the right thread for that question, but maybe I am just overlooking something.
Happy new Year!
Edit: Just got in my mind: Could it be that it's because I wear 4T9, so my Slam/HS crits overwrite my higher deep wounds from Execute/Ms crits?

Deep wounds is constantly ticking once a sec from crits unless you crit again. By critting the dmg is pushed back for one second and then all the damage before the crit that still had not ticked is added to the new crit and then that ticks over a 6 second period. Deep wounds in not something you can roll high and then keep there by constantly critting. It's a wave that can go high or low but usually the damage normalizes when you look outside of the 6 second window.
There are 2 ways to increase the size of deep wounds tics.
1. Crit very often, this pauses the roll and builds up the total DW damage but is no different than critting more spread out the same number of times over the course of the fight.
2. Deep Wounds is based on wep dmg. That means it is increased by DMG multiplliers like deathwish, ret aura, and whatever else there is. You've probably noticed that when you get more STR or AP your wep dmg in your character sheet goes up. Adding more AP (Through STR or AP) increases deep wounds damage which increases your dps. People stacking ARP will not do as much deep wounds damage as someone stacking str. Of course the benefits of stacking ARP vs STR are not just one dimensional and there are many sides to it but when faced with BIS gear setups stacking ARP to the cap is still a larger dps increase than just stacking STR.

What DK10 said. But also maybe as below.
Anduryondon comparing you vs our arms warrior he hits melee hit's, crits, glances, HS hits and crits every 2.5 seconds. You average every 3.0 seconds. According to the spreadsheet you should average 2.68. This seems a bit odd. Wondering if you're using a G15 keyboard or mouse or a macro with Slam in it. Slam will delay your swing time by 0.5 seconds. If you used that keyboard or macros would it not interrupt the casting of slam and cause a delay from the start of the cast to when it's interrupted? Or do you sometimes hit slam but see another ability come up and switch to that before the slam is finished casting? It's the only thing i can think of. Fixing this would help increase Deep wound damage a little bit.
I will assume i may be correct as you previously posted.

If you possess a g11/g15/g19 you can bind one macro key to a macro that uses the two skills in a row with 0,01s between. And yes, Blizzard allows this.
|
If Slam is in that macro perhaps take it out and hit Slam manually. Or stay with what you're currently doing. If you got a 1 button macro it may be a dps increase vs hitting 5 buttons. But you'll have to live with the swing timer delays you're causing yourself via the macro. Which also effects rage generation. Which may effect your dps as well. Perhaps test it in the next raid with Slam taken out of the macro and see how it performs vs with Slam in it. Or if it isn't in the macro ensure Slam finishes casting before hitting anything else.

For anyone interested, I tested the 2 piece set bonus of T10 today before I returned the gloves+shoulder combo.
The buff has no internal cd. That was to be expected. I managed to get an uptime in the 16-18% range on single target only.
Mimicking heavy AE situations with many mobs, I tested it on the lvl1 dummies in Theramore standing in a pack. This resulted in 5 dummies being affected almost all the time (lvl1 dummies heavily inflate crit chance) by deep wounds, coming from cleave + WW spam. This got me an uptime in the 45-50% range over a timeframe of 45 minutes. This should be seen as an upper limit to the achievable up time in all conceivable raid situations. Deep wounds ticking on 5 targets simultaneously almost non stop would not be really achievable in a real world scenario anytime soon, because non stop cleave spam really eats into your rage and raid mobs would result in a way lower crit chance and DW uptime.

No they dont, they specifically said that using the keyboard to use 2 abilities that are hardcoded to require a key press (aka ones with gcd) with a single keystroke is a bannable offense. Check forums for this if you need, but dont spread misinformation.
As for the 2pT10 bonus, it seems to be more in realm of 10% uptime in raids - and thats because of higher crit rate in raids and haste etc. Crit is your ENEMY actually - any warrior has enough crit right now to basically keep deep wounds going indefinitely even without raid buffs. Its too much crit that causes overwriting deep wounds before they can tick that lower the chance,

Yeah I use my g11 for my rotation, but this should not delay slam, since it only casts slam if no OP/MS/SD is up and does not interrupt the cast or something. If you compare my two posted logs my average melee+hs speed is 2,8, while the other is 2,7x so this should not be the case. But could you please post your log, so I can compare some things?
What DK10 said does not really help me, because as already stated my gear and average AP is nearly the same, so that should not make such a difference in deep wounds damage.

I am really sorry, some time ago there was a discussion in the Arms thread which is why I said this. Thanks for correction.

Anduryondon we use worldoflogs as well. So you can check whatever you want. I did forget to add misses, dodged so redoing the math. For Ed i got 2.48 when it should be 2.71 according to the ss (he cleaved and so included those casts). Our arms warrior is at 2.50 seconds when ss says 2.48 seconds. For Andur i got 2.8 when it should be 2.68. So you may be correct in that Slam isn't being interrupted. I did test trying to interrupt SLam on a dummy and could not interrupt the 0.5 second cast. But i'm hitting abilities individually. My latency was about 34ms during the test. I'm not sure if a higher latency would increase the ability to interrupt the cast. Guess i'm out of ideas except to say, crit more, like Ed.

So the spreadsheet shows Ed and our arms warrior as being within 0.02 seconds. Gotta love it when the ss is this accurate. Anduryondon is off by 0.32 seconds. Quite a discrepancy here. I will repeat what i said earlier. Take Slam out of the macro and test it. You are an anomaly. That and or do like the rest of us and don't use a g11,g15,g19 macroed to hit more than 1 ability at once that has a gcd.

Sorry, but I don't quite get it how you come up with 3.0. When adding up my Melee/HS Hits, Crits, Misses (Dodge/Parry) I get 88 swings with a fight duration of 247 seconds. That makes 2,806 seconds. For your Arms Warrior I get 140 Melee Swings with a fight duration of 393 seconds, which makes 2,807 seconds per swing. Could you please explain your math?
In addition to that I have no problem with changing to a non-macro gamestyle (which is what i used until toc), especially since I did not know it is against the terms of use, but I would first like to get the right theory behind my deep wounds problem.
Edit: Just saw your edit, still I don't know how you get 2.50 for your Warrior, but I guess you only rechecked my log. Thanks for the guess though.
But I think you solved the problem. I had 51% crit on MS, while Ed had 69%, so this would result in bigger deep wounds. Just compared some other logs, really seems to be the case.

Recently took Deathbringer's Will in a pug and I understand that it isn't BiS. But I'm wondering what would be the best way to handle gemming with it.
Would I gem to the soft cap minus the proc from the trinket similar to Runestone? Or will I try to gem to the hard cap and attempt to make the ArP proc useless?
I assumed the first, but after reading a bit seem confused. Just looking for a clarification.

ArP soft cap
I am hoping to pick up a Needle-Encrusted Scorpion (20 runs and counting), and have not been able to find exactly how much ArP I would need to hit 100% with the proc + 2 piece T9 + Battle Stance. If someone could tell me the soft cap with NES or point me to where I can find it I would appreciate it.

The soft cap is just the point at which your ArP from skills and rating plus the amount you get from the proc adds up to 100%, or 1399 ArP rating. Battle stance plus 2T9 gives you 16%, meaning that you only need 84% of 1399 (or rather, 1175) to cap. The Needle Encrusted Scorpion provides 678 rating, which means you need 1175 - 678 = 497 rating to hit the softcap.

PVP PROT: Strength or Arp gems?
Keep in mind im doing BGS (havent bothered with arena at all yet).
Wondering whether or not going str is more effective due to higher block value (shield slam is stronger and we benefit from damage shield talent with more block too etc etc).
therefore wouldnt it be better to gem str? Or do i still go arp as i have the trinket? Not really sure as i usually find myself fighting non plates most in Bgs and arp isnt as effective against them?
Also wondering if blood draining would be a good enchant for my weapon.

Good news everyone!
Blue Post on Deathbringer's Will
|
We are concerned about proc’ing a stat that can be readily capped especially on an item that provides a rather large passive armor pen bonus already. It could end up just never being attractive enough.
|
Looks like ArP may be removed from [Deathbringer's Will]--at least for Warriors, as we are most likely to "readily cap it" (vis three pieces of tier ten having Armor Penetration).
I'm not proposing any new theorycrafting just yet, as any possible changes are a great big unknown. However, everyone should consider possible changes to this trinket when [Tiny Abomination in a Jar] starts getting the spotlight this week.
