I added the enemy profiles that janaka posted to the Bosses sheet. However, I am unable to select any of these new models for the "Boss Profile" on the Talents sheet. I am sure there is something I overlooked and would appreciate it if one of you would be able to point me in the right direction.

Just insert as many lines as you need below 'Filler WotLK Boss' and paste the profiles there.

Is there a way to filter out gems from the drop-down list on the "Equip" sheet?

I only ever use 3 or 4 different kinds of gems and it's a bit hard for me to go through all the listed gems. So it would help me a lot if I could filter out those I never use, or even removing them permanently from my copy of the sheet - I've tried doing this but I ended up breaking the spreadsheet. Could you tell me how should it be done properly?

Unhide the gems sheet. You should be free to delete the rows of the gems you're not using, as long as they're not the first or last gem under the Red/Blue/Yellow catagory.

I have been using the Excel version, but would like to have the macros. I downloaded Open Office 3.0, and then the zipped file from this thread. But, in that file I cannot find an actual spread sheet. Can anyone PM me a quick how to so that I can use that version?

So you want to know how to open the Open Office version? I too had trouble with it, I could not find a file in the zip that any Open Office program could read.
What you need to do is open the zip file with Open Office. Do NOT unzip it.

I was looking through the forums for anything on the [The Black Heart] and how useful it was for a prot warrior. I wasn't able to find anything so I decided to do my own theory crafting and I wanted to post my results here to make sure I didn't screw anything up.

I used the spreadsheet and unhid the "Trinkets" page. I edited the "Seal of the Pantheon" proc information so that it gave 7056 armor instead of the default 3570. I left the uptime at 1/6 because according to wowhead the proc rate is about once per minute, with a 10 sec duration.

Back on the main "Gearlist" page I deleted the def bonus and added in the 126 stam.

The spreadsheet updated to give an AEP of 2331 with default weighting.

I haven't modified the stat weights but with default values this trinket has the highest AEP in the game, unless of course I screwed something up.

Hopefully you guys can replicate what I did and use it to play around with your stats. You can also add black heart to the trinkets page and to the GearList page so you can actually see it in your Equip list without having to realize that Seal of the Pantheon is The Black Heart. I only used Seal because it has very similar mechanics and there was a higher probability of it working correctly if there was some hidden code in the spreadsheet I didn't see.

Please let me know if there has been any research done on this that I may have missed and let me know if my numbers seem accurate.

PS. I use the Excel version of the spreadsheet so I do not know what steps need to be used to add the trinket to the open office version.

In my ingame Test [The Black Heart] had a CD from 45sec an it also procs immediatly.
The 7056 armorbuff was 22% of the time active, so i had average 1552,32 armor.

I'm new to the spreadsheet and it kinda confuses me. I kinda understand how it works but I was wondering how the points are determined. Also I don't understand the whole socket thing. Like it says somewhere that it will tell you if you should socket the item with an on color gem or not and I don't know where to find that. Its a great tool though, and I was wondering if its gonna be updated soon for the Coliseum stuff? Thanks for the help

i would like to ask a question concerning warrior tanks..i have 25.85% dodge,which is a dodge rating of 564 adds12.46% dodge. This is while i have Valor Medal of the First War equipped which gives me 84 dodge rating.My block is 22% and my parry 19%. I tank hardmode 10man ulduar for my guild and I just need to know,would it be wise removing Valor Medal of the First War which would be -84 dodge rating for a stamina trinket such as the Black Heart? atm i have 31k hp unbuffed and if i equip that trinket i have 32k and my dodge goes down to 24.52% with a dodge rating of 480,also adds 10.61% dodge. Hoping for some good replies^^

with the new changes to BV I'm wondering if the BV calculation should carry such a high weight. I've been wondering why blk and bv were so favored to start with and now when i change the BVs on each item to what they should be, the AEP seems to be too high. I am not seeing the benefits to those 2 stats being better than others against ulduar bosses.

First, what boss are you using? Ulduar bosses hit harder than Patchwerk, so block is overrated if you're still using him.

Second and more important is that block still helps your burst value. Burst value is calculated assuming you have no dodge, no parry and no shield block uptime or critical blocks but regular blocks still apply. Regular block don't take much damage off an Ulduar boss hit, but enough to shore up the value of block quite a bit.

Obviously, a scenario where you take a couple of hits in a row is more dangerous than one where there are some blocks in between, but the former scenario is rarer as well. Ultimately what is a good scenario for burst value is a judgement call, just as what the weightings applied to time-to-live, burst and threat/dps are.

Personally I think Taliafears' choices are as good as anyones. Play around with the 'Stats' and 'Bosses' tabs to get a feeling for what does what.

I was using the Steelbreaker25 profile. It just seems that with the increase in BV on items that the total AEP on items with BV get really inflated.

Well, if the value of armor goes down relative to other stats then total AEP goes up. Therefore total AEP is an irrelevant value.

Ok last question. I got the Open Office version so that i could easily sort items. However, the macro does not keep anything after Column Y sorted with the appropriate items. Therefore it throws the gem bonus values off as well as the trinket specials values. Am I doing something wrong?

Found one little mistake, Legguards of Feverous dedication are missing a red gem slot.

It seems like you adjusted the "Filler WoTLK Boss" profile. You adjusted the "DPS" & "Burst" on the new version. The prior version used used 24,000 DPS and 0.3 burst. Your new sheet uses 30,000 dps & 0.4 burst. What reasoning did you have or use for this alteration?

As far as I understand the sheet, the dps should only affect your rage generation, and the value of block. The burst setting pretty much states how much in danger you are of being killed if you're unlucky with dodges/parrys. So a higher burst value should reflect that the filler boss have begun to hit harder in general relative to your armor.

I didn't want to change the "named" boss on the spreadsheet so I used the filler wotlk boss to do some test. I wanted to check the modification of the Burst/TTL/Aggro ratios on the items ranking. Just forget to put the normal values afterward.

First all, thanks a lot for the update Triel.
Simply a suggestion ... I think that the dodge rating and parry rating have changed in this patch. Afaik, in this patch is required a 15% more dodge rating to get 1% dodge and -8% parry rating to get 1% parry. So the rating required for both values is the same now, around 45,2 rating. You can unhide the sheet "Numbers" and there modify those values. At least in the office 2003 version they are not changed.

Anyway, good job with your update.

It will be changed in the next version (I'm waiting for a few other comments, especially on the trinkets)

Those calculs were made according to my stuff and in game tooltip. They might be very slightly wrong due to blizzard rounding the values but nothing significant.
