FoF is currently bugged and loses a tick when you reach a certain haste breakpoint (which is very easy to do). I didn't see any simulation or theorycraft with this taken into account, but I'm pretty sure it's not worth using it.

Strangely I see some minor increase in dps when I use FoF on gimmick (read: raid dummy 20 min) fights if I never allow myself to channel it
a) delaying RSK,
b) overcapping energy or
c) risking to lose TP stacks.
My recount report shows, though, that I've been using FoF once for 4 rsk, so it's effective cooldown depended more on windows of opportunity rather than its availabilty. Which makes me come to conclusion that 100% effective usage of FoF requires planning your rotation few more GCDs ahead than I do. Or, if that's not enough due to mastery procs screwing the whole thing, it would mean that our 2t12 bonus gives us zero dps gain ;( I hope it requires some better planning though - I already have an awesome looking ability i cannot use without loosing dps (which is FSK).

It will depend on your gear and the fight a lot, but I find Fists still worth using, even with one less tick. You can get a very rough estimate of whether or not it's worth it for you by checking your logs from any boss encounter where you use it.
You'll need to calculate your average FoF damage per execute, then compare that to the average damage of 1.5 blackout kicks (including the dot) plus autoattack and tiger strike damage over the channel duration (which will be 3 seconds with 4 ticks average). This comparison will ignore the possible enchant uptime loss, though, but it should not matter too much if the difference in damage is significant.
Keep in mind that to make this comparison method at all reliable, you'd need to use data from multiple boss kills. And as always, your results may vary.

Hi guys.
Let's talk about Ascencion "Up".
Do you think, with this 15% energy regen in your specs, that it's a good alternative to haste ?
By waitting a cap we won't reach in this tier ? (cap ~6000 haste imo)
So, should we take Ascencion waitting for more haste in your gear ?
And the stats priority, does haste will always stay as now (when capped ?) ?
There's some questions that maybe, are important.
I'll be on the PTR soon to try this new spell, if someone have some feedbacks, i'll be happy to read them !
Ty dudes.

on terms of reaching 6.6k haste, its do-able this tier, ive seen plenty of monks at 6.1k haste already. pretty sure Justmonk from Method is nearly there.
but to your other question at 6.6k haste roughly as far as i know, crit becomes better than haste. not sure why, but i presume its just how the scaling works.
to Ascension, they are nerfing power strikes by 2 secs, which people are already theory crafting it would be better to take Ascension over power strikes.
A question i have regarding the haste cap, is how trinkets like the shado pan trinket are higher in the list in terms of dps version say the normal version of Bottle of infinite stars, for example, i dont understand how an on use 1 mins cd haste use, is better than the agi proc from that instead. since after all we are sitting on like 5-6k haste atm. so adding another 3k or what ever it is exactly, wouldnt that jus be over kill?
will need this explaining to me in full if somebody can tell me why, sorry for being such a nub if its an easy answer, re rolled from a fury warrior. so never understood haste properly.

There is no such thing as a haste cap for windwalkers: adding more haste will always be a dps increase (with the possible exception of the FoF bug). Depending on your gear, crit or haste may be the more beneficial stat, but in this tier they are always very close to each other. Haste does not magically become useless after the 6000+ number everyone keeps throwing around, the only thing that might happen is crit becoming noticeably better rather than being almost equal.

There is a haste cap. When you generate more energy than you can spend, haste value drops considerably. You need quite a bit more than 6k haste to reach that point though. Just keep in mind that the more you jab, the more Combo Breaker procs you get, so it's not only about energy, about also filling GCDs with mastery procs.
The only thing that still benefits from haste from that point on is auto-attacks / tiger strikes.

Which is what I said, except the energy gain/spend ratio. Haste will always offer you a dps gain, but with a certain amount of it you will want to give priority to other stats. Also, auto-attacks and tiger strikes make up a quarter of our damage output, so you can't really discard it.

The trinket list I made shows that even the lfr version of the Bottle of Inifinite Stars is better than the Hawkmaster's Talon. My last update to this list was 10/25/12, before that update I used wrong proc values for the Bottle, maybe that's what you remembered?
btw, I added the trinket [Arrowflight Medallion] as shown on mmo-champion. Keep in mind though that it's subject to change, or even that the values don't show correctly yet.

I already hit 6,750 haste w/o trinkets pretty easily, and without using any "Quick" gems. Granted I'm not in heroic gear yet (HOORAY RNG) but I don't see why it would drop transitioning to heroic gear.
My question then is should I start focusing more on crit than haste? Is my energy regen (11.58) would I still stick with accension? I notice that with Combo Breaker procs my energy can get awfully close to capping, and when Lust/Heroism is up at the start its unbearable.

I noticed an odd behavior of SFB on Elegon - it seems that you're out of the 10 yards range for it to deal an additional 50% damage when you're basically in his hitbox, and it definitely seemed that SFB was hitting harder than BoK for the majority of the fight (started to spam BoK in the end due to lust).
Logs: World of Logs - Real Time Raid Analysis (there are a couple other Elegon attempts there - was pugging it) and some tries I tried to use BoK, and then I tried some SFB (with the kill you can see it was my most damage done). It was critting for upwards of 400k in the end, if not more. Then again, I have bad weapons (476 and 463) compared to the rest of my gear (485) so that is probably what caused it to be so much better.

SFB is superior on Elegon, because you can be 10y away 100% of the time. Obviously this is not the case for the Energy Charges.

Of course - are there other bosses in this tier where this is also the case? The 'rotation' changes quite a bit, and I'd almost assume that you would want to reforge more into crit and drop some haste (because you use a lot of globals on chi spenders whilst your energy is regenerating).
I'd assume Sha of Fear, Garalon, Tsu Long and maybe Grand Empress. It even hit harder than RSK - worthwhile to only use RSK to keep the debuff up then?

As for Sha and Tsulong, we won't have any hard data until we get Terrace, but from my experience on beta (aka LFR), Sha's hitbox is ridiculously large, and it makes sense that even if you're on top of him, SFB does more damage (and mechanics wise, using SFB on Sha while you are DPSing the adds). I can't speak to Garalon or Empress, but at least from what I'm seeing, SFB on Garalon would not do extra damage to the legs due to the hitbox (feel free to correct me on this one) and using SFB on the body would be relatively counter-productive unless you're waiting for legs to spawn.
I'm going to try some of this tonight, specifically on Elegon and Garalon in LFR and see what happens. I'll post my results when I do.
