I've done preliminary statistic value runs for 2h profiles which resulted in similar numbers, haste > crit > mastery. I neglected to include this but hit over soft cap has a lower value than mastery for dw currently, this may change as weapon dps increases though. 2h is notably behind dw but I'll be working on optimizing gear sets for pre-raid/normal/heroic of both dw and 2h tomorrow. If you notice anything that improves the profile feel free to critique. Please keep in mind that if you don't build from the SVN you won't have the all of the bug fixes we've implemented and are thus likely to get skewed results. I'll post my current profile below for easier access to editing it.

Yes, tiger palm mastery proc is below jab, its a minor dps gain but it was outside the margin of error so I kept it. The line at the top about chi_sphere is just so the sim knows to pickup the excess chi from using power strikes at 2 or more chi, not that I've actually noticed any gain from that, just a logical addition.

I'd really like to see the sims done in normal t14 gear because stat weights seem off based on lower Ilvl gear, and I think that's worth looking at.

Has Expel Harm always discounted overheal for the damage? Testing a bit on the Infernal Test Boss today and it seemed my numbers were off, looking at the logs I relalised Expel Harm was doing nothing. Further testing shows it's only doing half the damage of any actual healing done and not overheals, I could swear it didn't work like that previously.

Most of the numbers in the sim seem quite reasonable. What do you calc as spellcrit in a raid? I see that you have ZS at 14.3%, but I get only 12.94 with the stats in the sim.

And Disargeria is right. EH was always meant to do damage equal to the actual healing and not the overheal.

I haven't updated the OP for quite a while now. I thank everyone that supported it, provided feedback or suggested improvements, but I think we're at a point where this thread has mostly run its course. A proper guide should take its place in the near future. While at this moment I could write one, I don't think I'll be able to keep it updated; for that reason, if someone wants to go ahead and do that, don't hesitate to contact any of the EJ mods; also, contact me if you want to use the OP as a starting point, or feel I could be of any help.

Guides aside, I would like to mention the nice tools by Venyasure that we've all seen here in this thread and in the Brewmaster one; if he wants to have a thread for it, I think that would be a nice addition. We also have a fully functional SimulationCraft module for monks that could be integrated somewhere.


Finaly, since the mechanics are pretty much done at this point (damage tweaking aside); I think we can use this thread to start shaping up the future guide. Feedback about what you'd like to see in a guide, or what parts of this one didn't fully work could be useful. For instance: personaly I'd like to have some parts of the guide in video format, as those can reach a wider audience. Now, these should be up to the EJ standards, and I don't think they could replace a fully written one, but things like how to handle Flying Serpent Kick could be a lot more easier explained in videos.

The program displays downtime (percentage of the time you spend waiting for resources and energy). The T14 bonuses explain a very low downtime.

Xuen is not taken into account (except in downtime, it adds one gcd every 3 min). But Tigereye Brew and Energy Brew are. Obviously, it doesn't take into account combos like TeB + EB ; i consider TeB is an overall damage increase of 20% * 15/cooldown (the cooldown depends on Chi generation and Mastery procs), and EB is a gain of 60/60=1 energy per second (plus T14 bonus).

This version is a bit better than the Maple version i had done considering i have enchanced the way Tiger Power is maintained via Mastery procs ; i'm doing less Tiger Palms in this version, which is more representative of what we do in game.

Oh, and Disargeria pointed out that Windsong had a 1 sec cooldown. I might have to modify my formulas for enchant uptime.

Remarks :

- FoF is a dps increase, even if you don't land auto attacks while you're channelling it
- Dancing Steel > Windsong
- EH is a dps increase if it doesn't do too much overhealing, even if you have quite a lot of Mastery
- DW > 2H
- depending on ilvl, agi may or may not be twice better than haste ; it appears that most of the time, it isn't. The default stats values i've entered in the cells are roughly (very roughly) what you'll have on heroic gear without gems or enchants. At this ilvl, agi is not twice better, therefore gemming haste seems good.

Something I'm seeing on training dummies in the beta is that our blackout kick mastery procs are stacking Tigereye brew, but not our Tiger Palm mastery procs. Might be interesting if we can increase TB uptime via mastery, but haste still looks to be king.

Also did a little rough math on when to use TB cooldown (assuming 1 TB stack / 5 sec):

Basically there isn't much DPS loss for using it whenever you feel like, but I'm going to start looking to use it when I get a decent Tiger Strikes uptime window with FoF, and enough chi/energy/mastery procs for a few BOK/RSK to wail on a target. Sitting on 10 stacks is a DPS loss, so I'm going start watching at about 6-7 stacks for a good window to use it. Naturally you would want to pool 10 if burst is required for a fight, but for general usage your milage may vary.

Energizing Brew seems like a good thing to keep on cooldown, especially if you have no mastery procs and you are waiting for energy to tick.

I'll be posting updated simc logs later, just did a major pass on the windwalker action lists. I actually noticed that in the sim, maintaining a 100% uptime as apposed to waiting for 10 stacks is in the noise, negligible at best. Nice to see your math reflects that. I can't seem to get it to increase the dps at all with usage based around cds, I thought I could get at least a hundred dps out of a bloodlust conditional so its up the entire duration of blood lust. Sadly, no combination seemed to work.

In addition to this we have cooldown usage to take into consideration. Shown from my Tigerseye Brew spreadsheet, we know that there is no benefit to using the TEB cooldown at any specific level of stacks. Therefore it makes sense to me to use this CD when it is going to do the most damage, i.e. buff our biggest attacks: Rising Sun Kick, and Fists of Fury. As the buff lasts 15 seconds, you can easily use 2 RSKs and 1 FOF during this window, making kind of a sandwich:

0 RSK & TEB
1 Jab
2 Mastery Proc
3 Fists of Fury
4 Fists of Fury
5 Fists of Fury
6 Jab
7 Mastery Proc
8 RSK

As you can see, there is ~ 10 second window in order to pull this off, so it gives some room for contingency if you need to wait for energy ticks for jabs in between your RSK and FoF. Through testing, I have found that Power Strikes comes in handy sometimes getting enough Chi in order to just need one jab to get enough Chi for a FoF. Sometimes you will get lucky, sometimes you need to wait for energy to tick. If you are managing your chi optimally, you can go into this rotation with some banked chi so that you are minimizing downtime during the TEB window and jabbing as sparingly as possible.

I've done the tests over and over in simc and no matter what conditionals I use for TEB...it just always results in the same dps or a minor loss. I've tried every combination of cds and buffs I can think of. If you have any ideas as to how I could improve it pm me.
