I believe it installs the Curse data miner, so they can pump all mob/item/spell/etc data to their databases. Not a huge deal, but very annoying, and makes me resent Curse even more.

I'd recommend WoWInterface.com. I'm not sure how you could call the Curse Updater change from WAU anything but a downgrade, and a forced one at that. Reminds me a lot of the XP to Vista 'upgrade'.
