What I do, if I get to a point where my rupture is about to expire, I vanish and apply garrote and as soon as I've got 5cp I just put Rup back up.

Agreed but how long do you expect an AoE pull to last huh? I mean a half descent guilds plows through quarters as Arachnid pretty fast thus you don't get the required amount of time to do that...
